The hobbit body is shorter than that of most of the teen fashion dolls shown here. Only High School Musical Taylor has a shorter torso; Taylor is about 10" tall. The hobbit dolls also have wider hips and more narrow shoulders. Neither the waist nor the bust twists for the hobbit dolls. Finally, their legs seem a little wobbly. But if you would like a different height and a different build for your teen dolls, the hobbit body can provide that difference.

Great post. She has the best body out the bunch. I say that because it is the most realistic body I have ever seen from Mattel. She actually has thighs!

I had not thought about how the hobbit bodies have thighs, lol. She does indeed. And it is neat to have variation in the doll builds.
I used to prefer the "cleaner" look of non-articulated dolls - no breaks in the body a la Frankenstein, Dollikins (shudder, lol). And some dolls I keep as they are because I like the build as in the Jakks Pacific G.I.R.L. Force dolls or the Mixis.

James, hi and thanks for submiting a long post. I'm always glad to hear from another collector, and as Vanessa writes, it is never too late to start collecting. (Well maybe if one is taking one's last breath, but short of that, we start at different times.) Let's have as much fun as we can. This is our safe zone.
