I read and loved the Narnia books, too. Part of the reason I was once interested in life in Canada was from having read L.M. Montgomery's Anne and Emily books. Good reads.

I didn't read the Little House on the Prairie books though. The show was fun, but I wasn't so keen on it to follow up. And I didn't encounter the books when I was younger. I might check out the Betsy books.

Oops ... forgetting the doll topic. Still I enjoyed these comments. Love book talk, too ;-DD7anahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15497306465109590188noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5580986768097342172.post-69486055831082052972014-04-08T21:32:13.164-04:002014-04-08T21:32:13.164-04:00I kept meaning to reply to this!! I also loved the Narnia books. I wanted to live in Narnia.

Betsy/Tacy was a whole series of books about a girl named Betsy, growing up at the turn of the last century. She makes friends with Tacy in the first book at the age of five, and the books continue all the way to marriages.Barb the Evil Geniushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04635449477605703171noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5580986768097342172.post-9045925680499936202014-04-05T21:51:28.078-04:002014-04-05T21:51:28.078-04:00I like Ghiradelli, too, although Lindt 70% is my c...I like Ghiradelli, too, although Lindt 70% is my current favorite.

I can almost smell that chocolate smell - no, late April Fool's prank - alas, I cannot smell it. I used to watch Little House on the Prairie. I LOVE and have read Little Women many times and have seen several of the screen adaptations. (BTW, did you read the sequels, Little Men and Jo's Boys? And the Anne of Green Gables series by Lucy Maud Montgomery? Ah, good reads, all.

I do not recognize Betsy/Tacy though ;-)

I think I remember that pale blonde, twin curl thingie. I think Mattel sold them in hair paks and with Growin' Hair Francie and maybe even the Deluxe Quick Curl dolls? Blond Skipper especially made a very good Amy March, even more so because we had a hairpiece of blond curls that she could wear.Barb the Evil Geniushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04635449477605703171noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5580986768097342172.post-69728379093053457032014-04-05T09:58:40.131-04:002014-04-05T09:58:40.131-04:00@Cindi - thanks! The do...@Muff - thanks - kind of you to say so ;-)

The dolls with stories thing goes back to when I was a kid. Not only did my dolls have set characters, they also had distinct voices. (Regular carny act I had going, lol.) I can mimic some people's voices. (Almost got myself in trouble at work once when I responded to a co-worker in her voice. She was NOT amused. I've got much better control over that playback leaking.) As I grew older, my collection grew, and it became harder to provide distinct enough voices for each character. So that's partly why I don't have as many stories attached as I used to.

Then again, sometimes the story doesn't present itself until I have had the doll for some time. Li Shang was initially just an elusive-to-find Asian fashion doll. When I got my Wolf Cut 2 Momoko 02Smpk, I realized that Li Shang would make a perfect boyfriend for her. And part of his story was that he was a college student and that he used to date Jem Hologram member Aja (the original Hasbro one). So potentially, any of my dolls and action figures can have stories. Some stories grow, others peter out. So, yes, they do speak to me, but I don't always hear them at full volume at first.

Then there are dolls that I bought and wanted to like but lost rapport with.
