I have a My Favorite Doll Spring-Summer 2002 catalog. So I asked Margaret Matsui, the president of My Favourite Doll Inc., for permission to scan certain pages from that catalog. She said yes. (Do I know good people? Oh, yes! I do.) So here are two Integrity Toys' Candi pages. Hope you enjoy seeing them.
I am fortunate to have two of the dolls on this page: the Asian Holiday Toast and the Asian International. Lovely dolls in exquisite fashions. NOT for sale.
I have two of the dolls shown on this page: Subtle Elegance (the Israeli face mold) and On the Go (the Hispanic face mold). They are also NOT for sale.
Additional Candi photos can be found on this French blog, on Frannie's blog, and of course, on Black Doll Collecting's blog.
You can still buy some of these lovely dolls on Susan's Shop of Dolls.
Thanks, Marg!
P.S. I might have to link to these pages elsewhere so that you can see the dolls better.
All their clothes are marvelous. My poor dolls are forced to dress to my unsophisticated tastes.
ReplyDeleteThanks, you little enabler you. I only have one Candi doll. But I saw a few more I wouldn't mind having. I wonder if they are as hard to rebody as the Janay dolls. I guess I can check it out with the one I have here. Duh.
ReplyDeleteHi Muff and Vanessa! Thanks for stopping by ;-D
ReplyDeleteMuff, most of my DAFs do not begin to have clothes as fab as the Integrity gals. The Momokos I still have are more acceptable than the ones who have since moved on. (Guess they realized this was not Saks Fifth or Bloomies in Philly, lol.)
Vanessa, me? Moi? Enabler? lol. That answer aside, I would find the Candi dolls very hard to rebody. It's not just their harder plastic heads - like the Janay dolls = but they remind me of the Commodores brick house. They have that sort of presence IMHO. I can't think of an articulated body that would pack the same impression. Female Hot Toys, maybe? Any suggestions, anyone?
I love my Candi dolls. I've collected quite a few on the pages you have posted. I looked on Susan's pages and realized I have the one I wanted.
ReplyDeleteI've rebodied a couple of Candi's & Janay's. I used Monsieur Z and Dynamite Girls bodies. It's not impossible.
I love these dolls. They were the beginning of my passion for FDs. I began collecting them when Helena Hamilton (Hamilton Design Systéme) was still producing them. I don’t own any now, but get a nostalgic twinge whenever I see photos. The mag photos look like they have lots of interesting info.
ReplyDeleteHi Dollz4Moi and Robin! I would love to see your Candis. I've done a quick photo of the same pages - the first photos were scanned, reduced, and illegible. Ack. Hope you can all see better the details ;-D
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing the Candi scans from the MFD Spring/Summer 2002 catalogue, D7ana. It's always nice to take a look back at how things were and what dolls were available in the past. Documenting these tidbits also enlightens newbies on the way things were. And a little enabling never hurts either *wink-wink*.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the link to my post on Candi dolls, too. I hope readers find it informative.

You're welcome, DBG! Glad you found the scans interesting. The original scans came through beautifully, but reduced poorly so I photographed them. The photographs were more easily reduced - whew.
ReplyDeleteThis is probably a good time for older dolls to be re-discovered. The lower costs make it easier for newbies to find the dolls at reduced prices.
You are welcome regarding your Candi post. It seemed timely ;-D
