Even Barbie Recycles ...

How many of you know that Barbie has become Eco-friendly? Yes, Barbie, one of America's leading consumers. How do I know this? Where did I learn this new fact? Check the accessories included for Barbie's recycling playset. Barbie has a lime green mesh bag for carrying items, a purple and hot pink recycle bin, a flower in a clay pot, cans and plastic bottles to place in the bin.  Neat, yes?

So let's hear it for the Pink Princess and her new occupation! Go Barbie, go!

  1. One of the reviews said there was not a lot of play value with this set. I think play is what you make of it. I'd play the heck out of a set like that.

  2. When I read your opening line that Barbie has become more eco-friendly, I had hopes that the actual packaging on Barbie dolls had become more eco-friendly. Sigh ...

  4. Hi Muff, Anonymous, and Georgia Girl!

@Muff - I agree with you 100% - play is what you make it. We could have a story or even a storyline based on that set. Depends on the player's imagination ;-D

@Anonymous - alas, no. Would that the packaging were more eco-friendly AND more buyer-friendly. Down with excess twist ties, unnecessary plastic tags attaching the doll's head to the doll's box (ggggrrrr ...), and excess plastic.

@Georgia Girl - agreed. I think it's cute. And good to have in playscale.

  7. Well, I guess it's a good message but I wonder if her plastic accessories are made from recycled plastic? And I'm with you on the excess packaging. My original Barbie came in a cardboard box (which I still have) with no plastic ties holding her or her stand in place.

  8. Real life eco-unfriendliness aside, that set doesn't seam to contain much *to* recycle. Maybe combine it with those Trash Pack toys...? :D

  9. Hi and thanks, Carrickters and Anderson's All-Purpose.

Yes, it would be great if the plastic accessories for this set were made from recycled plastic. And "trash" would be a nice addition.

Wait, did I really write that "trash" should be included ;-P ? But it would fit ...
