  1. "Oh, Lord love a duck!" That's the first thing I said when I saw that photo. I don't know if that's good or bad, but I will say there is a doll for everyone.

  2. Hmmm. Seriously it will be interesting to see her in reality. The promotional picture looks very pink.

  3. Thanks for sharing these photos. Even though the Monster High dolls come in a rainbow of colors, I still associate them with different racial or ethnic flavors. I will be very happy to get this doll when she hits the stores because aside from Clawdeen Wolf, there haven't been other Monster High dolls that I can see as unequivocally "black." The pink dress and hair can be removed. :-)

  4. Hi and thanks, Muff, Carrickters, and LimbeDolls! I am still considering the MH dolls. Not sure if they qualify for racial and ethnic flavors ... I am puzzling over that for them and for my Takara Jenny dolls. Shrug. I did consider Clawdeen Wolf - and by extension, her younger sister - as Black-ethnic. Robecca Steam, I thought might also be considered Black-ethnic. Jinafire as Asian-ethnic ... not so sure about the others. They seem "White-ethnic" by default ....

    What do you readers think?

  5. MH creators have been pretty clever with avoiding race-specific characters which is something I like about the line.

Some of the characters do have nationalities and (sub)cultures which are referenced in their clothes and personalities. Robecca is English with a strong reference to Steampunk/Futurist Victorian, Jinafire is Chinese, Skelita is Hexican(Mexican) etc....

As for Catty Noir, I love pink but yeeesh, that shade is blinding, and there sure is a lot of it. The overall quality isn't high enough to pull it off. Maybe if it was as good as this custom made one - http://drakum.deviantart.com/art/Catty-Noir-364226623

  6. Hi Alan

Aside from Clawdeen, Catrine, and Jinafire, I felt that most MH dolls were half-creature, half-human. Race and ethnicity did not matter. Thanks for letting me know about Robecca and Skelita.

And thanks for the link to the customized CN
