Spring Break 1961™ Barbie® and Ken® Giftset | Barbie Collector
Okay, this set is from the 2011 National Barbie doll Collectors Convention. But look at that Ken! He reminds me of Johnny Mathis! Ohhhhh! Wish I had gone to that Barbie Convention! Wish I had bought this guy. The set was created by designers Matt Sutton and Matt Trujillo.
There is an European American version, too. I had typed "caucasian," then went to check the spelling. Came across this humorous definition. Now I feel awkward typing "White." Oh me oh my.
Hope you enjoy seeing the doll.
Hello from Spain: nice set of Spring Break 1961. I read that it was the convention protagonitas Mattel. What luck. . Keep in touch
ReplyDeletehey
ReplyDeleteI also agree lovely elegant set of Spring Break
Hi Marta and Lonely Heart! I saw these dolls on Pinterest first, then found them on the Barbie Collector website. Nice indeed. Sigh. Now I see what I miss by NOT going to the Conventions.
ReplyDeleteIt's a beautiful doll set! I would love to go to the convention some day. Maybe when they come back to the northeast again and I can drive to it.
ReplyDeleteHi Pattidolls! He really looks different. Mattel has used the TNT Barbie sculpt for the Mod Life Christie doll - although I think this face screening is much prettier.
ReplyDeleteI went to the Sales Room one of the days that the Barbie Convention was held in Philadelphia (whoo hoo!) back in 1996(?) That was fun and exciting for me. I bought a Jenny Friend Elle doll and some accessories ;-)
Hi D7ana,
ReplyDeleteJust stopped by to say hi! I've enjoyed reading your blog; never knew there was such variety in dolls available on the market. Nice job here.

Hi Jennifer! Oh wow, wow, wow! What a welcome and wonderful surprise. (Really working my "w" today. For a writing expert, wink.) Usually only fellow collectors read my blog - I think. Glad that you visited and enjoyed the experience.
ReplyDeleteLove the Spring Break set! I wanna go to a Barbie convention! Maybe they'll do one in Atlanta someday. Sigh..:-)
ReplyDeleteHi Cindi! I went to the sales room of a Barbie Convention. Never went to a full Convention though.
ReplyDeleteI'm surprised that they aren't held in Atlanta ... I thought that that city was friendly to doll events. Philly is not so great a place for playscale modern collector events. New Jersey is way more active than we are here ;-P
