New So In Style Prom Dolls

L'ubo, a regular on Facebook's So in Style and other doll groups, shared links to the new So In Style Prom dolls. I am sharing those links here for S.i.S. fans to view. Alas, these are basic dolls - limited articulation, but they have new hair styles and new fashions.

(Ack! What am I typing?! At this time? New hair styles and outfits? But hey, it is news. Maybe the new fashions will inspire someone? Sigh.)

Well, here are the links:

Grace

Kara

Trichelle

Please note: the Amazon web site and the links have some typos for Grace and Kara. Grace has become "Chandra" while Kara is called "Chandra" on one line. Huh? You say. Check the photos, I answer and wink.

Thanks again, L'ubo for sharing the photos and the links.

  1. LOL, Barb, you read my mind. Thanks for saying that. I thought maybe I had old-fashioned, out-dated ideas about prom dresses.

My guess? They are prom dresses in the Skimpy Fashion Zone.

  3. LOL@ prom dresses in the Skimpy Fashion Zone. Do all of them have on purple lipstick?

  4. Skimpy Fashion is for Homecoming. Prom is Skimpy Fashion with a longer skirt.

  5. Hi RoxanneRoxanne and Barb the Evil Genius!

@Roxanne - Grace wears a fuchsia lipstick and a purple dress; Kara wears lavender lipstick and a bright blue dress; and Trichelle wears - possibly - the same hideous um fuchsia shade Grace wears (eewww) and candy pink dress. So I think only Kara wears a straight purple lipstick while Grace and Trichelle wear a purplish-pink shade.

I wonder if they have someone overseeing the cutting of the fabric? Someone to squeal in outrage if too much fabric is left on any individual dress. Tsk ;-)

@Barb - gotcha. I forgot about Homecoming - didn't have them at my high school - but I think we have the same expectation about Prom gown = long skirt.

On the other hand, I have heard about tuxedos as well as shorter dresses being worn by girls to proms. Shrug. Skimpiness of fabric though ... disappointing

  6. The best I can say is that at least Trichelle has gotten her side eye back and her hair is super sexy. Everything else is a big no thanks.

  7. Hi Muff! Yes, I like Trichelle with the side eye glance better, too. As for the hair ... you might want to wait to see the actual doll just in case. One of the commenters mentioned the hair not matching the style in the photograph. Sigh. Darn.

  8. I think they're cute.Though not very traditionally prom. It works for the 21 century look. The dresses and shoes actually reminds me of the comic book Wonder Woman and her ladies of Paradise Island. Check out the Amazon shoes on Trichelle and Kara.

  9. Hi Anonymous and thanks for that insight. I mean that the So in Style prom dresses resemble Wonder Woman and her ladies on Paradise Island. (I haven't read a WW comic book in years, but I recalled the look you mention instantly.)

  10. A little overpriced for what you get. The articulated ones were max, $2 more. I'm going to pass. I don't mind short prom dresses, but they at least need to be cute.

  11. Hi Vanessa! The plus about Mattel re-creating the same S.i.S. dolls is that there is something cute for all of us. I'll pass on this set, too. Allow me to get the articulated bodied ones and the side-glancing Rocawear and Baby Phat Chandra and Trichelle dolls that I really want ;-)

    Someday ....
