April Themes: Easter, Tartans, Earth/Arbor Days, Administrative Professionals

Oh, it's April 2nd and early in the month. Time for a "themes of the month" post. Since no specific heritage is honored, I can pull over some topics I did not fully address last month: Spring and Spring Cleaning, Women's History Month, and Barbie.

April also has these special dates:

5th is Easter Sunday

6th is National Tartan Day - to date, this is the only day recognizing Scottish Americans*

22nd is Earth Day

23rd is Administrative Professionals Day

25th is Arbor Day

Organizing update aka Spring cleaning news: I've found Get Set Vanessa and Harley Davidson Barbie. Yay! Mystery Squad Barbie is still missing. Sigh. Then again, I found this playset, #3012-01 the Real Friends Shopping Mall by Geoffrey, Inc. circa 1999. It was distributed by Toys R Us. I'll share more photos of it later. A recent post on Mrs. Anderson's blog inspired me to check on it.

What are your plans for April topics? Let me know in the Comments ;-)

  1. I plan to attend a doll meet up in my area this Saturday. This would be my first and I'm already feeling iffy about it so it should be interesting.

I also applied for a doll show in May that I'll need to get ready for this month.

And I still haven't finished my taxes, lol. Nothing like waiting to the last minute!

  2. You are a blogger on fire! OTOH, I have a lot of plans myself. I have an idea for an Easter pic lined up. I just got Lottie's horse and one of her outfits, so that will be a post. I will blog about the two Madame Alexander International Traveler dolls that I'm hoping to receive soon. I happen to know that the Easter Bunny is bringing me a new Mooshka doll. :) And I need to write a post about my doll-sized art project that I referred to here.

  3. Too bad, I've been working on tartan outfit for the whole last month but I won't be ready for the Tartand Day....I'll be off to Madagascar in a week's time, so there will be little time for dolls this month for me.
Your organizing plans are going swiftly! I'll have to put some order in my doll's clothes department soon, the situation is getting out of hand.

  4. April is "doll outfit a day" month here.

Thursday's adventures convinced me that the rules include "if I finish the shell instead of giving up in frustration, it still counts even if it's a disaster," since the point is to get practice and remove the constraints of fearing failure.

Unless I buy more fabric, I don't think I'll make Tartan Day, though.

  5. I'm off on a 2-week holiday in a week and then have a house-hunting trip planned, so we'll see if I actually get any of this posted, but I'm planning a bunny-centric photo post for this weekend, and then a few reviews that have been languishing, and hopefully I'll finally get the last of my Minimates photographed and posted.

We'll see if I get around to any of it! ;)

  6. Hi Muff, Barb the Evil Genius, and Billa's dolls and fashions

@Muff - I look forward to reading your doll meet up post and seeing your doll show video/post. Good luck meeting the tax deadline.

@Barb the Evil Genius - Roar. LOL. Your Lottie is adorable. I don't blame you for getting her a horse. The Travellers dolls and Mooshka dolls sound interesting. Bring on the doll-sized art.

@Billa's dolls and fashions - pout, oh that is a pity. But - big smile - you have a trip coming. That means lovely travel photos. Yay! We can see your tartans later and the doll clothes will wait. (I promise - I have looked at mine and thought, not organized yet? The doll clothes will wait, lol.)

I wish you a fun and safe trip!

  7. Hi jSarie! Oh, I like the bunny idea. I'll look forward to that post. Whenever you post it ;-)

Have a great time on your holiday.
I wish you a fun and safe trip, too!

  8. Hi Smaller Places! That's right. I remember reading your announcement. Your dolls are going to love you.

I've got fabric for doll clothes, but no sewing plans for months. Someday ...

Maybe you'll do tartans next year ;-)

  9. My plans are to work on dios, post more pictures of items I'm selling, I need to do two proposals and plan for two lectures, make some doll clothes and tons of gardening.

  10. I'm just hoping April will be a bit less hectic than March and I can do some more doll sewing. However, I have just been asked to make two reception dresses for a wedding on the 18th so - we'll see. April 25 is also Anzac Day here and it will be big celebration because this year is 100 years since the Gallipoli landings.

  11. Hi Ms. Leo and Carrickters!

@Ms. Leo - fun projects ahead for you ;-)

I've got to sell stuff. Lots of stuff, lol.

@Carrickters - the reception dresses sound fun but time-consuming. Then again, I'm lazy about sewing for people - I hand sew so it would take me a long time. You're a pro though. I wish you time to get some doll sewing, too.

I had to look up Anzac Day. I wish you a happy one - if that's appropriate. Per the Wikipedia article, Anzac Day is a commemorative holiday like Memorial Day here in the U.S. I've never thought long about Memorial Day because I haven't known anyone who died in a war. The vets I have known died after their military service. Hmmm ...

  12. I have a new give away and fun post coming up. I am doing so many changes to my R/L house I have to get up in the middle of the night and do stuff.
I will work a little and play a lot. Towards the end of the month soccer games, possibly doll shows, and finally getting deep into my miniature stuff i.e. organizing, making stuff and just down right playing with them. lol

  13. Hi The grandmommy! My jaw dropped - you got stuff to do! I hope you get enough play - and sleep - in ;-)
