Brotherly love in playscale: finding diversity in fashion dolls and action figures from the 1960s to now: Barbie, Fashion Royalty, Momoko, Susie, GI Joe, Power Team, Mixis.
Thanks for sharing. I haven't looked at Barbiecollector.com all year....since I'm not a member anymore. I like a few of the dolls. Not a huge fan of the dresses at first glance. Of course that could change after a few glances. I do like the earrings.
I haven't seen them yet either. The Asian is a winner for me, I like her sculpt. All of them look well done, especially their hair and sculpts. I'm not crazy about the metallic clothing but it would be useful for a nightclub /concert diorama.
I've only seen IRL pictures of the Asian doll because someone auctioned one off on eBay two months ago. She's the only one I wanted, and should be here by Wednesday of this week. As soon as I get her swapped onto a new articulated body, I will post pictures on my blog.
I haven't seen these dolls anywhere yet. I like them all, but if I get them, I'll have to re-body them all. Not sure I can match the skin tone on the Asian doll. :-)
@Cindi Mortensen - I hope you get them all. Jewell of Doll-Lightful has picked a donor body for her Asian Metallic; you could find out which body she is using ....
@Marta - oh, I hope Mattel sells these dolls in Spain OR that you can get any that you want from another collector or a dealer.
@Muff - lol, she's got a spicy, sassy look. I also would like like the Pazette AA and the redhead. Possibly ....
The last one I picked up was the City Shine Metallic Bronze; resistance was futile. However, I've stopped buying a lot of these dolls due to them not being articulated. Placing these beautiful heads on other bodies just doesn't appeal to me; besides seeming to be a pain to match skin tones, it just doesn't feel right (OCD?!). The Red look, however, is tempting...
Sadly I don't think we'll be getting these either. The style reminds me a bit of what '80s clone dolls used to wear, so maybe I can dig up one of those instead. :D
Hi Anderson's All-Purpose! LOL @" what '80s clone dolls used to wear" - true. I hope that this series reaches you. Just being able to see stuff sometimes is satisfying alone. I'll look out for some garish '80s fashions on your blog ;-)

ReplyDeleteVery pretty but I think I would prefer some articulation as well as the nice face sculpts.
ReplyDeleteHi Vanessa, Lisa Neault, and Carrickters!
ReplyDelete@Vanessa - yay for your withstanding peeps at the Barbiecollector.com!
I can see your Maya working any of those fashions and strutting with friends at a club ;-)
@Lisa Neault - I like the Asian, too. I think the BC website said that she has the Kayla/Lea head sculpt. Also like the Pazette AA and the redhead.
The fashions would pop for nightclub scenes.
@Carrickters - groan. Exactly. I'll have to re-body them, too.

ReplyDeleteHi Jewell! You rock! Thanks for sharing that news. I will be looking for her on your blog. Yay, Jewell!

ReplyDeleteHello from Spain: fabulous new collection. In my country it is not for sale.We keep in touch
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't throw the Asian one out of bed but I'm not feeling the rest.

ReplyDeleteRebodying can be a pain, but it's so neat when you've found the right match ;-)
