Brotherly love in playscale: finding diversity in fashion dolls and action figures from the 1960s to now: Barbie, Fashion Royalty, Momoko, Susie, GI Joe, Power Team, Mixis.
Okay, now I want a Barbie Fashionista No. 59 Tropi Cutie AND a WWE Naomi doll. I wonder if I'll be able to get any WWE dolls at Toys R Us before they close? If not, I'll get them from Walmart, etc.
I hope you'll find them :-). I sometimes wonder if people from Mattel see all these re-bodied dolls all over the internet. Do they need any more hints about articulated dolls?! Lol!
@Jaye Frye - I agree. The lipstick put me off at first. I'd think, yes, I like the hair BUT I have other dolls with that face mold who are prettier. Well, one that is ;-) Also, I don't care for her outfit.
@MillicentAndFriends - thanks! I believe Mattel KNOWS that their heads are being re-bodied. They're just slow to act on it, lol. Maybe the novelty aspect - producing multiple versions of dolls is more profitable to them than producing fewer, more detailed dolls? On the plus side, they are making more MTM bodies in different complexions. What I don't understand is why they let lapse popular MTM dolls like the purple top. Shrug.
My TRU had WWE dolls, but that was a couple of weeks ago. Hopefully you'll find one.
People are asking $60-80 for the MTM purple tops! I don't know if they're getting it, but no basic Barbie doll is worth that much. I wish Mattel would re-release that one.
Hi and thanks, RoxanneRoxanne and Barb the Evil Genius!
@RoxanneRoxanne - Yay! I look forward to seeing your swap. I love seeing re-body posts.
@Barb the Evil Genius - thanks for the wish, but my TRUs probably are sold out of the WWE dolls now. Shrug. I doubted that I'd get any big sale. Then again, I might ;-D.
I would not pay $60-80 for the purple top MTMs. I could get about 2-3 articulated doll bodies for that price. It would make sense for Mattel to re-issue that doll or another one with that coloring. Pause to cross my fingers for luck.
I liked the video! WWE Naomi is on Amazon for $19.90 right now, which is her retail price at Target (if you can find her there). Also, Bayley is on Amazon for $14.59. She has a pale skintone so might be an option for Purple top until Mattel releases another. Shipping on these is free if you have Prime.
Hi and thanks, Phyllis, Sandra Booth, and Georgia Girl!
@Phyllis - I'm glad you liked the video: I enjoy seeing a guy "play" dolls.
Thanks for sharing where you've seen the WWE dolls and their prices. Oh and that Bayley has a pale skintone. I've got a few fairer ladies who would love to have that body. (Unless I really like her face; then I'll have to get extra Bayleys ....)
@Sandra Booth - Thanks for letting me know. I'll check for her there or at some of the local Walmarts.
@Georgia Girl - I love getting tips like that - matches for body swaps. Helps. Also, thanks for adding that you have seen her at Walmart.com. Walmart, I'm going to you.
Tropi Cutie is pretty. I just like her with a different lipstick.

Hmmmmmmm, and I just so happen to have both of these. I'm planning a swap, but not this particular one.

ReplyDeleteI saw the Naomi doll for sale at Wa!mart.com.
ReplyDeleteThis is great to know that they have the same skintone. Walmart.com also has Naomi.
