New Artsy (Adria) Head Mold Playline Dolls at Target

I found these two new Mattel playline dolls at Roxborough Target. I photographed them there. Sorry I cut off the names of the two. I think that they are part of the "I Can" Barbie series.

  1. Do they also use this head mold on one of the High School Musical dolls?

  3. No, although the resemblance is striking, Roxanne. Taylor's head mold and Desiree's head mold have different markings on the back of the head.

    Taylor's reads:

    TM©2001MATTEL INC. on one line

    Desiree's reads:

TM/© 2001 on the first line
MATTEL INC. on the second line

  4. Glad to know that another collector will be pleased to know about the Adria/Desiree face mold, Therese!

  5. Thanks for IDing Artsy's head mold, which was referred to as Desiree on another blog that I read recently. Artsy's marks are identical to Desiree's (I just checked). I need a name other than Artsy for my doll... I guess it will be a toss up now between Adria and Desiree, maybe I'll call her Desiree-Adria (If I can remember Adria). :-)))

  6. Ok, thanks Dana! I guess I'll be naming my artsy lady Adria, since I already have a doll named Desiree (she's one of Kelly's little friends). :)

  8. Desiree is so coming back into our lives! I should post some pictures of my Desiree on my blog!

  9. Debbie, I thought of that head mold as "Desiree," too until I saw her mentioned on some other sites (Charles', Therese's Dolls of Color, and somewhere else) as "Adria." A photo showing various Mattel heads and the range of complexions had that head mold unpainted and tagged as Adria.

Roxanne, I hear you about re-naming dolls because you've already got a doll with that name. My Fashion Fever Desiree is the only one with that name so she keeps it. (Especially since I didn't have another name for her LOL)

Anonymous, we could shop together if there were only one of each doll because this time, I would prefer the bride. Then again, it could be the screening on that particular doll ;-D

Ebony, I speak for many in this - I would LOVE to see your photos of your Desiree at your site. Against a Brooklyn background and accompanied by some of your others or solo ... oh yeah.

  10. This the same head on the Happy Family grandmother, the 2002 Barbie, the Desiree and the High School Musical doll. I just took a picture of them together. I call it grandmother with granddaughters. They all have the 2001 on back of the neck. At first I didn't like the large ("Balloon Head") head of Desiree but it has grown on me. I don't like the shorter bodies either although I have a few. Is the new doll on the shorter body?

  11. Does the one in the wedding gown have a jointed wrist in one hand only? I find it funny...

  12. Leonaamon, the AA Happy Family Grandmother has the same markings as Desiree, BUT there is a difference in the head sizes. I don't have the 2002 Barbie so I can't talk about her head in comparison. I would love to see your grandmother and granddaughters photo - if you have that photo online, could you share the link? Thanks in advance.

  13. Niel, that's a great catch - I mean that you noticed the Bride doll having one wrist jointed. That one jointed hand does seem weird. I'm all for poseability now, but why one side and not the other?
