Are these cute or what? Ken's got peach Converse-style sneakers. No, I didn't get them today, but they are on my list. Is peach an "in" color for men's footwear this summer? I haven't noticed the trend, but perhaps it is. I have seen pastel men's suede shoes and low boots, but never have I seen peach sneakers. For guys, I mean. Not that I know all about men's footwear.
What do you think? Go, Ken? Or oh, no, Ken!
And why 1981 on the pullover?
It's 1961 with the 6 a it warped. A lot of new ken clothes have that year pasted on since I guess it was the year Ken was introduced lol.
ReplyDeleteGo Ken. I would purchase this if I saw it. My action figure guys are already warning me against dressing them in this, though.
ReplyDeleteKen's high-top Converse All Stars look like they're either Exuberance or Terracotta in the Fresh Colors line, which is a men's line, so he's legit.
ReplyDeleteKen is presumably trying to exude a certain GQ casual effortlessness, as if he's running to Peet's with Mark Zuckerberg after pitching his tech start-up to Yahoo. That, or he got last year's colors at a warehouse sale. (So basically, I'd buy them if they fit Ken having a good story.)
I just got this set recently for my boys. Its very nice. In NYC Ken and Barbie clothes are ridiculously expensive. But I found this in another city for a good price. I wish I could find more reasonably priced Ken clothes. They don't have much at my local thrift store.
ReplyDeleteI passed on this set when it was in regular stores for $5.99 and up, because I'm totally over Ken's 1961 shirts... we get it.
ReplyDeleteBut, if I saw it at Tuesday Morning for $2.99 I would probably get it.
Peach is the new orange.
ReplyDeleteFor the right price sure why not.135
ReplyDeleteHello from Spain: I bought this set of clothes for my Ken. I like the sneakers very much. Very real. The sweater is fabulous. Keep in touch
ReplyDeleteHi Jawn Pickles, RoxanneRoxanne, Smaller Places, Robotica, Muff, Pattisdolls, The grandmommy, and Marta!
ReplyDelete@Jawn Pickles - thanks for clarifying that number. "61" I understand. I thought it was "81" and that number puzzled me ;-)
@Roxanne - lol, my action figure guys just gave me a look when I mentioned getting it. At least your Kens will have it in peace, ha ha.
@Smaller Places - I can see Ken as a GQ model.
I could imagine some of my Kens wearing peach on a dare or just for the fun of it. Some of them are playful ;-)
@Robotica - congratulations on getting your outfit at a good price. That set would have cost me about $6.00+. So I thought I'd hold off on getting it, lol.
@Muff - yeah, the price point got me, too. $2.99 for that outfit, yes. More than that ... um ... not yet. I mostly and only want the sneakers. Don't care for the top or the pants ;-P
@Pattisdolls - Hourra pour la pĂȘche!
@The grandmommy - $1.35 or $135.00? LOL, no, I think your right price would be $1.35.
@Marta – congratulations on having this set. I like the sneakers. They do look real, even in the package. I look forward to seeing them on your Kens ;-)
Definitely a yes, for the model more than the color (although it might look better irl). Either way, it's always nice to see some variation in the men's shoe department.
ReplyDeleteI picked this up for my teen dolls. They totally love and get the color and style.
ReplyDeleteHi Anderson's All-Purpose and Ms. Leo!
ReplyDelete@Anderson's All-Purpose - I love this model, too. And we seldom see color variety in men's shoes.
@Ms. Leo - your teen dolls are lucky! I love the sneakers in this set, too.
Totally Go Ken. I picked it up. :-)
ReplyDeleteYay, the East Philly Kens cheer! Good doing, Troy. Know your Kens are happy ;-)
ReplyDeleteYou wouldn't believe the color sneakers the real teen boys are wearing these days. My 15 yr old son from another mother, plays basketball and you see every color on the court. Lime green, purple, yellow, orange, etc. Tonight my son had on the brightest sneakers I've seen in a long time. And let's not get started on the bright, crazy socks they wear with these shoes. So Ken's peachy sneakers are pretty toned down.
ReplyDeleteHey, Vanessa! Good to hear from you. Yeah, I suppose peach isn't outrageous when you consider some of the colors used today. And I kinda like peach. Not as gaudy as hot pink or Barbie pink would have been. Subtle for a subtle guy like Ken ;-)
