Alexis in Two Shades
For Liv Alexis fans who would prefer her with a darker complexion, someone is "listening" to you.
Check these two Making Waves Alexis dolls:
I found them at a Philadelphia Target store. No price difference between the two. I confess, I forgot to check for the stock numbers - darn. (I saw them in Target; alas I did not buy them.)
Wonder if they are leftover bodies from the Alice Alexis dolls?

Are There Two Liv Jakes?
I saw Jake at a local (Philadelphia area) Target. "My" Jake resembles the doll shown in the promotional photo. However, it seems that there may be another Jake as shown online at Amazon.com . Interesting, hmmm?
Now I want to get BOTH Jakes.
Groan. I really need the girl Liv dolls first though because some of my older dolls NEED new poseable bodies. (Like my Baggie Francie ...)
Decisions, decisions.

Twist & Dance Liv Dolls Seen at Wyncote Walmart
More new in 2011 dolls: the Twist & Dance Liv dolls. I saw all four of the girls at the Wyncote Walmart. No Chase - the boy doll - there today. (Perhaps he was the first to be bought?) More bodies, more fashions ... what more could a DAF Dr. Frankenstein require? Here are the girls ....

Denim Barbie Basics Seen in Philly ....
I love the new gray tops and the denim bottoms on the new Barbie Basics line. I like the dolls, too. Wish that they weren't all Model Muse styled, but I love the face and the hair variety. Looking forward to seeing more of the line. Below are the first dolls I've seen, found in a Target on Bustleton Avenue below Cottman Avenue.
I didn't get any of these because I am not sure that I want any of these three dolls. Might, but I am not sure now.

New Dolls Shown at Target: I Can Be a Ballroom Dancer and 2011 Swimsuit Doll
I saw these two dolls at Target: one of the new 2011 Swimsuit dolls and I Can Be a Ballroom Dancer Barbie.
Catty-critical collector comments:
The swimsuit doll does NOT need those bangs. Her forehead isn't high enough - as a bang-wearing individual, I know about that. Also, is she on a Hobbit body? Oh, no! Not them again.
Could we at least have variety regarding the Barbie hair color for these I Can Be dolls? On the plus side though, I see that Target is stocking some Black I Can Be dolls. So there will be a little bit of variety. Note: I am being good and not whining about the ever-presence of the Adria-Desiree head mold. (Picky me is getting tired of this new face already, Sigh.)

Target 7-Doll Exclusive Set
Once there were 8 Disney princesses. They were Pocahontas, Snow White, Sleeping Beauty, Ariel, Belle, Jasmine, Cinderella and Mulan.
Then there were 7 Disney princesses. They were Cinderella, Belle, Sleeping Beauty, Ariel, Snow White, Jasmine, and Mulan.

Target Exclusives and Nod to Charles of My Doll Diary
Charles of My Doll Diary recently wrote an article about "new" Target exclusive Barbie dolls. Since Charles has beautiful photos of the blond and the brunette dolls, I won't repeat their photos here. This past weekend, I saw these dolls at two Target stores in Philadelphia, PA. I am happy to report that, yes, the Black Barbie Glitz doll does exist. Her face sculpt seems a little shorter than the Desiree one and her complexion is light-medium brown.
There are also Target exclusive "closets" or three-outfit sets.

Temptations at Target

I saw two of the Red Collection Barbie Basics (Target exclusives): No. 1, the pale, blond Barbie and No. 8, the brown-skinned, red haired Mbili. Big whoop, huh? Big whoop, YES! The Target Mbili has curly hair. Whoo, hoo! Textured hair.
Oh, I could curse Mattel for their artistry. The curly-hair makes that Mbili-faced doll pop. Even though I remind myself that I have several Mbili-faced dolls already - the first Raven, two AA Zodiac Barbies, Princess of South Africa, Vitamin C, and the first SIS Kara doll – I find myself considering this doll. Never mind that I want at least one each SIS character Trichelle, Chandra, and possibly Grace. Ah but is it Mattel or the weakness in me? The collector bug?
Aside: Target has the Princess to Frog Tiana on sale for $6.22 though. Possibly because they want to move on to the next Mattel-Disney franchise, Rapunzel. (Rapunzel dolls are now available.)

So in Style Sisters Chandra and Zahara at Target

I saw the So in Style Sisters Chandra and Zahara at Target, Plymouth Meeting, today. Trying to think if she looks different enough from Alvin Ailey Barbie. And if she does, get her in the Rocawear or the Sisters garb? Considering ....

Target Findings - More Barbie Photos
Leftover photos and brief comments:

A new princess wears gladiator sandals ... cool!

Jungle gym for the little ones ... cute.

Interesting ... the Pre-School Teacher uses the Asha head mold. For fans of the Asha head mold, that means a new doll.

Am I alone in this thought? This pink and white candy striper uniform for Barbie is cute, but it is made of vinyl. Do candy stripers really wear vinyl uniforms? Sounds hot as in suffocating, LOL.

Target Barbie Holiday Exclusive(s) 2009

I first read about the Target Exclusive Happy Holidays Barbie at Charles' Doll Diary. Cute doll and cute holiday accessories like a Barbie-sized Christmas stocking to match any doll ornaments you might get. Charles' photo showed a doll in a red-white dress. So when I checked the doll remainders yesterday (the Black Friday leavings) and saw a pink-white dressed doll as well, I thought, photograph the pair.
Does anyone know if there are other variations on this doll? And are there ever any ethnic Target Holiday dolls? Curious, I am. There are ethnic Halloween Kellys so .... Eh well.

Yes, They Can Fit Barbie and Joe - Dora Playsets

Remember I had wondered if the Nickelodeon Dora Playsets could fit Barbie and Joe? Wonder no longer ... I won't anyway. I placed a Target Pink Halloween Barbie between two of the Dora sets to check. Took the photograph for you to see. Bingo! Barbie can use the furniture.
Only problem - aside from a one-desk classroom and a one-tabled cafeteria - will the bighead Doras yield that furniture?

Teen Dora Playsets at Target - Barbie-Joe Compatible?
The Roxborough City Avenue Target had these Teen Dora playsets available. At a cursory glance, they seemed almost compatible with Barbie-Joe-Mixis dolls. I couldn't do my usual scale check - holding a boxed Barbie in front of the box - because I was in a hurry. Has anyone seen these playsets out of the box and can you tell if these playsets are Barbie scale or off? I'd give the realism quality four plus stars - based on my brief sighting.

Thanks in advance for any answers provided.

New Artsy (Adria) Head Mold Playline Dolls at Target
I found these two new Mattel playline dolls at Roxborough Target. I photographed them there. Sorry I cut off the names of the two. I think that they are part of the "I Can" Barbie series.

Second Target Visit - New Target in Cheltenham
This time, I visited the "new" Target near the Cheltenham and Ogontz Avenues intersection. (Note: it's located behind the Shop Rite Supermarket, if you face the market and then walk or drive to the left. It's almost hidden away.)
Target had LOTS of the BFC Ink. Calista's and those cute Moxie Girls. Nice selection of Barbies, too. The H2O dolls with their molded on bras. Some Hannah Montana, High School Musical, Wizards of Waverly Place dolls. A few Only Hearts Club dolls but no Kayla Rae doll.
I would almost not mention this, but I noticed there were a LOT of Black dolls available. I thought: well, I guess I can figure out who this Target expects to visit. Interesting, how stores select merchandise to fit their expected clients. Good, I am NOT complaining, but it made me think, you *get* who the target (ouch, bad pun intended) is for this store.
The official address for this new Target is
2450 Shoppers Lane
Philadelphia, PA 19150
