What does September mean? October is coming. Yes, September is the unofficial start of the year for me. Why? Because it heralds Fall TV previews, Halloween, Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas! Whooo hooo! Yes - the Fall and Winter fun times. And what among these dates is the most fun? All together - Halloween!
This Halloween, the DOLLS and the ACTION FIGURES will get dressed up. Dress up to what end? Party time? Partly. We usually have an East Philly DAF Zone party around Halloween. Nothing big - oops, don't let T.J. know I said that. Gulp. Party, partly. Remember, Vanessa of Van's Doll Treasures is throwing a parrrr-tayyyyy. But beyond the parties, my playscale folk are going to dress up for a photo shoot, Come to My Window.
It's an iconic scene, isn't it - the dangerous vampire at the window. You know that he or she is going to get in. Whether the human inside lets him or her in willingly or as a result of being mesmerized, the vampire reaches the window. But what happens next, well, that's a whole different story. I figured, let's do a vampire-themed photo session/contest. Let's have a window and a vampire in the center of the photo. See what happens next.
So, what do you think? If you'd like to share photos with this theme at your blog, I would be happy to see them. Let me know by September 30th and I'll add your name to my list. Or you are invited to share your photos here - provided the photos pass my PG rating.

Ohhhh! I like the idea and would like to join in but I don't think I can post my entry until sometime in October. Now, let me just look for my vampire doll...
:)
Ooooh… what a fabulous idea. I would adore seeing everyone’s dolly Halloween pics. I’d love to see them posted on your blog as well as well as the other blogger’s site because, you know, you can never get enough dolly photos. Could you rethink the PG-rating, please? Just a tad to allow for flashes of cleverness that might include grown-up themes.
Hello from Spain: in my country, Halloween is not very famous. I know that your country is a great costume party ... I believe that I have no costume for my dolls. I have to look ... Your idea is very good. Keep in touch
Hi Robin and Marta!
@Robin - Okay, I reconsidered the PG-rating. Scratch it out ;-D
You handle adult themes with good taste and humor. I am eager to see what you share ;-D
@Marta - Yes, Halloween is mainly an American holiday. Some places outside of the U.S. "celebrate" it, too. Please feel welcome to share any doll photos of yours - "costumes" can be as simple as a handkerchief draped over a doll or a crown on another. Some people dress up as doctors, fantasy characters, etc. I look forward to seeing whatever you bring to the project: your dioramas are a treat to see.
Sounds like a lot of fun. I shall sit and enjoy all your pictures. Halloween isn't all that big in Australia either, partly because it is Spring over here (and so pumpkins are hard to find) but also because it falls so close to the first Tuesday in November - which is Melbourne Cup Day and so I'm focussing on Cup and Oaks Day fashions.
BWA HA! I'm in!!! If you like, I could make a graphic you could put up for participants so that we can put a linky on our blog? Shoot me an email if you'd like me to do this:
littlebearries@yahoo.com
(Or you may want to do this yourself... but it's what I do for a living (er, design things, not make linkies for blogs, LOL) so I thought I'd offer because it would be fast and easy for me!)
At first I was going to say I wouldn't be able to participate, but even while I was formulating the sentence ideas started poping in my head. Sigh. LOL, I'm still going to say I cant particiate, but I wouldn't count on that if I were you... just in case.
Hi Carrickters, Heather, and Muff!
@Carrickters - Well, I'll be looking at your Melbourne Cup Day fashions soon after these photos and Vanessa's party ;-D Nice to have something to look forward to in November. Cup and Oaks Day is a totally unheard of holiday for me ;-D
@Heather - Wow, that sounds great! Yes, please, I would LOVE a special graphic to tie all the entries together. I'll send you an email to that effect.
@Muff - You do exquisite photography - great staging and clear, colorful, detailed photographs. I would LOVE to see your entry, but if you can't participate, well sometimes we can't. But I think you'd do an awesome photo or two. Not to pressure you ... ;-D
I am often a lazy photographer. So this is going to be a good challenge for me ;-D
Hi Niel! Sorry I did not publish your comment sooner - it hit my Spam box for some reason. Shrug. You bet I hauled it out of there quick!
The photos would not be due until mid-late October. I thought I would post early to allow people time to consider and to plan so that this project would not interfere with any other holiday or other projects you are considering ;-D
I look forward to seeing your scary lady vampire doll again. Well, not in the vinyl, of course, but digitally, lol.
Thanks for your enthusiasm.
