Lanard I-Girl Paris arrived with this biggish brown dog I think it looks like a Great Dane. Or could it be a rottweiler? The dog's breed was not specified on the box so we can decide the breed based on what we have seen. Anyone think of another breed this dog could be?
Next, I have 3 Mattel dogs. (Mattel makes LOTS of dogs for Barbie and her friends. LOTS.)

Smartees' Vicky the Veterinarian came with this brown dog. Another generic dog. On the plus side, this is the only articulated dog in this group. See his side photo.

Spin Master's Liv series celebrated dogs in a wave that paired each of the original four Liv characters with a different dog breed. Alexis has a bichon frise; Daniela, a golden retriever like Ken; and Sophie, a shih tzu. Jake does not have any pets; Hayden tends to several pets including a dachshund from the School's Out: Hayden's Pet Adoption Center. I have the dachshund and Katie's dog Sk8, a border collie.

These are only a few of the playscale dogs available. Not that dogs are Man's only best friend: there are cats and fish and turtles and snakes and bunnies and rodents .... But those can be topics for future posts.

The big brown dog looks like a chocolate lab or a Chesapeake Bay Retriever. Hillary Duff's dog could be a Manchester Terrier (miniature or toy). The little brown dog could be a Water Spaniel or some other type of Spaniel mix. I agree with Brini on the Golden Retreiver.
Those are my guesses! I used to do dog rescue and was pretty good at identifying breeds of some of the pups we rescued. I had fostered a beautiful Chesapeake Bay Retriever . They can get pretty large, are intelligent and love the water. I almost kept him but we found him an owner who had other Chesapeake's.
I missed the Mystery squad dog, but it looks like either a Golden puppy or maybe a Terrier mix -- like a Fox Terrier except for the coloring. It's ears makes me think of the Fox Terrier.
Hi Phyllis and thanks for your breed identifications. I've had limited experience with real live dogs so I can only identify the most blatant - dachshund, bull dog, collie, poodle, "¡Yo quiero Taco Bell!" dog er chihuahua.
Thanks for rescuing dogs. They brighten our world - but don't tell Louie I said that ;-)

I have no clue on dog breeds. In my family we have had Rottweilers and Black Labs so those are the only ones I'm really familiar with.
I can't help with the breed identifications, but these dogs sure are cute!
I hope you can identify the other pooches, it would be interested to know what breeds they are. The Mystery Squad dog eludes my due to the size. Especially being equipped with a "camara", he has to be easy to pick up and go. I will have to do some research on that one, lol!

@Muff - lol, Ken and his dog LOVE the idea that his dog looks bear-like. Grrrowwwlll! I told them that such was the cough POWER of my photo taking. Well, there goes an amused fellow.
I had to look up Rottweilers, so count yourself much better informed than me on that species ;-)
@RoxanneRoxanne - oh, I would flunk a dog i.d. test, I don't doubt it. But the playscale ones are cute and safe. So I like having them around. Oh the wee doggies!
@Brini - thanks for the wish. I don't mind not knowing. I'll ask around about the Mystery Squad dog ... he looks pick-up-able unlike say the Lanard dog, the probable laborador retriever. And thanks for any findings you uncover; that is kind of you to investigate ;-)
Your big brown dog still looks too small to be a great dane (they are huge) and rottweilers tend to be black not brown so I agree with Muff about breed. The gold dog also looks bear-like to me but I also thought Golden Retriever there. The brown and white dog looks like a friendly collie from any kid's farm book and your 'generic mid sized dog' looks like what my father would call either a 'bitzer' (bits of this and bits of this i.e. a mixed breed) or a 'Heinz 57 varieties' dog.
Hi Carrickters! Thanks for getting back about the dog breeds. I don't think I've ever seen a great dane in real life; I agree that the brown dog probably is some other breed. The photos I saw of rottweilers did seem to be all black or black with brown parts. I still have to laugh about Ken's dog looking bearlike. I agree that he does, but it tickles me that fashion savvy Ken should have a bear-like dog. The brown and white dog is called a border collie by Spin Master so all calls for that one as a collie are spot on ;-) Last, I like your father's term, "bitzer" for the mixed breed I had described as a "generic mid-sized dog. Thanks for sharing; it's been fun and educational for me.
