Prettie Girls Update

Remember the special limited edition Obama 2012 Prettie Girl Sophia dolls by One World Project? Well, I did and here is the latest per that website. The Sophia doll - available in a blue ball gown or in a white tee shirt and jeans - will ship in time for Christmas 2012. So if you have an interest in political dolls or commemorative dolls, see if these dolls will win a place in your collection. Only 2,012 dolls will be created. The Classic Editions will cost $49.95 - markdown alert, price had been $79.95 - while the Signature Editions will cost $149.95; the Signature Edition includes a hand-signed Certificate of Authenticity by designer Stacey McBride-Irby.


I had cancelled my order for them - alas - but I look forward to seeing anyone else's photos of them. (Yes, that is a hint to DBG.)

New Monster High Clones ... Midnight Magic

Here is the backstory for the new Monster High clones, Midnight Magic: four teenaged friends sip a magic potion left out by an absent-minded professor and poof! Each receives a different magic power. Patty, Audra, Melanie, and Katie become Pippa, Adele, Mila, and Kayley from midnight until dawn. Their complexions turn as well - Pippa gets gray complexion and black hair; Adele gets pink complexion and black hair with pink streaks; Mila gets blue complexion and blue with purple hair; and Kayley gets purple complexion with dark reddish hair.


The most magical aspect of these dolls is their price: $5.00 each. Yes. And I saw them at Family Dollar stores in Philadelphia, PA. If you would like to see the dolls online, they have a website. Brought to you by the makers of Lovely Patsy.

I just wanted to add a note to Muff's cool post about her Big Lots! finds. Some of our favorite 12" men were there, too. Yes, Big Lots! still has Power Team guys. Four of the guys seen were new to me. There was only one brunet guy. (Brunet guy is Gene in EastPhilly and Jose Figueroa in Grandville.) No Black or other ethnic guys. Shrug. Maybe someone else bought them out before me? Possibly. I don't usually see a group of blond guys like this. There are usually brunet guys as well.

PhillyCollector Offline for a While

Sorry for no new posts; I will be offline for a while. So I am not being rude (or ruder than usual, lol) or ignoring anyone. I have some posts in the works to be uploaded when I get ample time at a few libraries. Thanks to all who stop by and leave comments. Glad you are still "there" for me ;-D

Not for Contest Entry ... A Vampire and a Window

Oh, it's that time of the year again ... leaves turn orange and descend and vampires overset cars and attack drivers ...




These photos cannot be contest entries because I submitted them. (The sponsor is not supposed to enter, to win, etc.) But I had this scene in my head and thwat! here are the results. I wonder if she should have blood trickling from a head wound? It is a pity that her mouth is closed - shouldn't she be screaming? But then, since this is a seasonal annoyance, perhaps not. We don't scream when flies descend, do we?

Night Creatures in a Graveyard
(This is the unaltered view behind the entry photo "The Cat's View.") A foggy dark night in a graveyard. A two-headed, gray-faced crone, a headless man in a business suit, a gnarling dog, and a girl - vampire? - wander among the tombstones and a few skeletal trees. Brrrr ...did I lock that window?



Dracula and a Bride
Integrity Toy's brunette Dracula fashion doll and his blonde bride stand in a warm brown-toned room with a blazing fireplace behind them. Who's to say, vampires don't want a little warmth in their rooms?



Frenzied Female Vampire
Okay, I do not recognize the doll who became this female vampire, but with her chalky complexion and wild, teased gray-white-black hair, she dominates this photo. Those reddened eyes, bloody teeth, and blood splattered body are alarming. Scary. Tell her she looks great in her flashy, form-fitting black v-neck gown with a burgundy red stole. Because she does have a bloody heart in her left hand while brandishing a knife in her right hand as she straddles some white shirted victim.

Don't you feel better for having seen these three photos? Maybe not at night? Oh well ... I did mention that they are Halloween photos. Shrug. Wink.

Those are the original photos The Mad Deboxer submitted. Stunning, yes? Okay, I state the obvious. However, they did not have a glaring window sooo ... yes, I asked for a photo with a border to represent a window. (Squeezes eyes shut and raises arm to ward off rain of rotten fruit.) However, the photographer gave something better - a multi-paned window with a cat as seen in the previous post. What photo is not improved by the addition of a cat and a black cat at that? Ummm ... rhetorical question that was. Okay, okay, the original photo is great. Could I be a total meanie and deprive you of it? No.

Me, I could interpret these as the window is implied ... they are window on a life - or death - scene. But I thought, someone will cry "Foul, no window." And they will send me a photo of Tinkerbell hugging a Care Bear. (Shudder. No Care Bears please.) So I await your decision.

If 10 viewers vote "save," I will allow photos that show either a vampire OR a window in a Halloween setting. My preference would be for both, but I can accept a broader range. In your comment, leave a vote to "save" if you are okay with a broader interpretation of the contest guidelines.
