Wikipedia and Mixis Article

Fools dive in where angels fear to tread.

I've heard something like that, but being a fan, I tend to look for a likely soft landing spot and dive. So after editing one Wikipedia article, "Fashion doll" to add the Mixis dolls to that list, I placed an entry of my own on the Mixis dolls. There were no other Wikipedia entries for them. I mean, yes, there are photos of the Mixis and a few articles about them online, but I felt they needed some extra ... presence? referencing? online. How else will those other Mixis dolls be produced?

First step then was to create a Wikipedia user name. Then I should have edited a few articles BEFORE creating one. So I edited the entry on Fashion Dolls first. Easy to copy the formatting and paste the repeated text in the list and then to adjust the text to read "Mixis, etc."

My next step was to review the article copy I created to make it as neutral yet informative as I could. Think I succeeded there. Also, I had to make sure that I did not plagiarize text from the website. I think I did well there ... someone will let me know, if I didn't.

I need to fix the reference tags; I'll check on that tomorrow. Or maybe some kind, generous Wikipedia expert will correct the error. (Yeah right ... there are scads of playscale collectors just waiting for the opportunity to fix incorrect entries on Wikipedia. Sigh.)

Here's the link to the

Mixis article

Thanks for any advice, suggestions, etc.

I'm sorry but I cannot help you with this one. I just want to say I appreciate the effort.

... I've had bad experiences with the Wikipedia admin types - that's all I've got to say...

So I've created my OWN wiki! Well, it's not really my own... but I'm the only one who edits it so it's mine pretty much I think... - the ABC Doll Club DollWiki - feel free to add there as well (let me know if you can't edit, sometimes I forget what settings I've left the wiki in)

Wow, you're a Mixis evangelist, huh? I have one suggestion to improve your article. Add links to other pages on "fashion doll," all the country names, the material names ["denim," "sundress"]. You don't want your article to be an orphan, or to have few other articles linking to it.

For some reason, your citations aren't showing up at the end. A tag error?

P.S. You're swaying me more and more to getting a Mixi of my own!

Niel, thanks for your willingness to help. And I am glad that you appreciate the effort. It's probably just an HTML code problem; I'll see how references are formatted and fix it accordingly.

Yay, Therese! Your own wiki ... cool. Thanks for the offer and yes, I'll see if I can post a different Mixis description to your wiki. Exposure, that's the ticket.

Hi, E.A.! Oh, you haven't got a Mixis yet?!? Oh, yes, you MUST - wait, scratch that, people hate being told "must" LOL. I believe your collection would be um ... richer with a Mixis doll (or more ... there are four of them LOL).

I'm 100% pro-Mixis, I confess. They're top of my list.

Thanks for the article-improvement tips. I certainly do NOT want my first article to be an orphan. I'll add the dolls' background and other details to allow for links to other articles.
