Is Dark Horse Comics Producing Game of Thrones Action Figures?

Hey, Game of Thrones fans! Dark Horse Comics has won the license to produce Games of Thrones merchandise. Were you - like I - wishing and hoping that Dark Horse Comics would produce playscale Game of Thrones characters? If so, which characters did you want to see first? I would have liked to have Tyrion Lannister, Cersei Lannister, Jaime Lannister, Arya Stark, Bran Stark, Catelyn Stark - pause to check the character list - well, you guessed it, most of the characters, ha ha. The first ones Dark Horse is producing though are Daenerys Targaryen and Jon Snow. I can understand why those two were chosen - to avoid any spoilers, I'll just leave it that they are among the most striking of the characters. Now I mentioned playscale, didn't I? Alas, per Toy Examiner Kevin Griffith, Dark Horse is not yet introducing regular, articulated action figures ... they are creating an unspecified scale of sculptures that they are calling "action figures."

Bah!

Sigh. Well, maybe Dark Horse Comics will relent and someday release playscale figures of some of the Game of Thrones characters. Some day ....

I wonder if these would work as toys for our toys. I love the series and probably would have been interested in the Tyrion figure, but alas the sculpt doesn't come close to looking like the handsome Peter Dinklage.

Most important characters first? Hmm.. definitely Hodor. And Rickon Stark.
:)

(now imagine if Mattel- or Integrity, or maybe Tonner Doll Company- made a Melisandre. And pass me the smelling salts, please.)

Hi Robin and Alrunia!

@Robin - yes, that would be neat to have a GoT collection for one or more of our dolls. I'm following the series via borrowed DVDs from the Free Library here so I am a season behind.

I'm not crazy about the Dark Horse sculptures to date. Dany looks good but Jon Snow and Tyrion ... not so good ;-P

And I agree that Peter Dinklage is handsome. I love the range of characters he has played before GoT.

@Alrunia - Hodor is sweet. Rickon is cute, too, like Bran. I haven't read the series so I don't know those two characters very well. (I think of Hodor as carrying Bran around, and Rickon as the youngest Stark child.)

I've seen Seasons 1 and 2 only so far. I found Bran adorable - I like how he loved climbing and exploring and how he seems to be developing a psychic connection with his direwolf.

If Mattel or Integrity made the dolls resemble the actor/characters - and not like Barbie as or Fashion Royalty as - then I would LOVE to see them do these figures in playscale. Although I doubt that Dark Horse Comics would yield any part of their license to another company. The potential income for articulated playscale figures for this series would be a good amount of money. Sigh.

Here are some virtual smelling salts ;-D (I have to check on Melisandre ... not familiar with that character offhand ;-D)

Being the cheap person that I am I don't have cable so I have never seen a full episode of the series, just snippets on YouTube.

However, I would love even just a sculpture of Dany, especially if she came with a dragon. I LOVE dragons!

Hey, Muff! LOL at your cheap comment. I am cheap regarding other interests/activities, too. I've been slowly following this show via borrowed DVDs from the Free Library of Philadelphia. In fact, I am following lots of cable shows like The Closer, Psych, etc. by grace of the library.

At first, I was SHOCKED by the sex scenes - omg, nooooo, lol - but then I was drawn in my the characters. And I wanted to find out if Bran would walk again and if Arya would elude the Lannisters and just how loathsome and evil Joffrey can be.

You love dragons ... okay. I'll see about doing a post on them in the future ... if I can find some in playscale. Kitty Pryde of the X-Men had a dragon ....

Digressing ;-P
