Why Mattel? Why Artsy Swapping' Stylin'?

Let me say first, that I do not understand the Mattel Fashionistas Swapping' Stylin' dolls. Bratz created a similar type of doll, but they had three head choices for one body. (I think anyway ;-D) Here, there is a doll with an exchange-able head-body.

Why, I ask. Why? There is only ONE doll with Artsy's body. So WHY, WHY, WHY is she on a Swapping' Stylin' body?

Unless, there is going to be a new Fashionista with whom Artsy can share her body.

P.S. What happened to re-dressing dolls?

I think separate heads are being sold but I'd rather head swap the old fashion way.

I don't care much for swappin styles either, it seems such a pointless gimmick to me.. I mean, you can swap heads anyway. And it's sacrificing a joint for it! gah.

Yes, Alrunia. I mean, why? Gimmick for the gimmick's sake.

Me, too, Niel. Old-fashioned head swapping is way better.

We already swap heads; why make it a gimmick. Of course if this means that extra heads are being sold, hey I know where I'm spending my loose change!

Maybe Mattel is trying to make head-swapping the norm for doll play rather than something kids find out they can do by accident. If it catches on, they could sell more, smaller items (heads) which may have a higher profit margin than a boxed doll - I don't know. I think Mattel tries to innovate on the types of play you can do with the dolls - they encouraged hair play years ago by making dolls with rooted hair that you can restyle which I think was innovative for that time. Also, Mattel tends to borrow (steal) ideas from other lines a lot and Volks dolls are based on swapping out parts and personalizing them. I don't know...

I love rooted hair. Prefer it to wigs. (Hmmm ... another thing I don't like about antique dolls, LOL.)

I'd be surprised to find that kids do not already swap heads. Then again, those prong-like things on the neck know can be frustrating when head swapping.

Re: M stealing ... oh, yeah. Some of the dolls seem like copies of the Fashion Royalty dolls and others. Tsk, tsk.
