Return of PhillyCollector

Hi, folks. I'm back.

A blogger buddy has just returned to blogging after a loss. Her return reminds me that I have been AWOL from my blog for far too long. Also, I want to coo over the new Curvy, Tall, and Petite Barbies. Despite the limited articulation, I like these dolls. Several are on my Wish List.

So long time, no see, PhillyCollector. What's up?

Well, I've moved to sunny Upper Darby. Yes, for the first time in my life, I am not living in Philly. While I could whine about my new location, I won't. There are other things to worry about. Like my dolls being scattered in several locations.

Wohhh. How did this come to pass? Lack of planning. I got sick. I went to the hospital. This time, they kept me there. Months of hospitalization and then rehabilitation kept me away from my playscale buddies. So, I lost control of my collection. Some dolls and action figures, my Mom held onto. I have those. Others, my sister Amy took. I'm having trouble getting those back. Others, my brother Jason has in two storage units. I've got a few of those. Just need to get the balance out.

Whew.

I haven't given up on collecting or lost interest. I was away from computers from December 25th, 2015 until gee, sometime this year. I was bed-bound for a month and then another month or so doing rehab to get back to walking. Why? I have colon cancer.

I did not want to announce that here because I thought of this blog as a usually sunny, happy place. But I want you to know because you are my people. So I am sharing this news with you. I have had time to get adjusted to this diagnosis, and I'm taking things one day at a time. I've received good treatment and lots of family support. Friends chime in as well. Life is good 'cause I'm still here AND able to eat. Did I mention how much I love eating?

I'm looking forward to - FINALLY - selling some dolls and buying NEW dolls! Just have to get my camera back and snapping photos again.

Thanks, CR! I'm grateful for both your prayers and your hope about my collection. I am going to get them back if I can.

I'm so glad you're back, although sorry that you have been dealing with such serious issues. I know how it feels to have family that hurts instead of helps when you are struggling. Prayers that you will get through this difficult time, discover the good things about where you're living, and recover your collection.

Hi, Barb the Evil Genius, jSarie, Black Doll Enthusiast, simsgrl, and Cindi Mortensen!

Thanks for the positive wishes for my health. Good to be back here among friends ;-)

I've got plans for regaining my collection. I'm taking chemotherapy weekly so I'm working on getting better.

Glad to be blogging again.

I'm glad to "see" you back here. I hope you're able to get everything straightened out. I know the feeling of being hospitalized and not in control of things. I'm glad you had friends and family to help in your time of need. I'm in the weeding out process with my collection too. If you need me you can find me on the facebook, lol.

Glad to see you back to blogging! I see you on Facebook! Somehow and sometimes Facebook is easier! Hope you get everything back and in one place. It is hard to keep up with everything.

The other day I checked out the Diva Doll board. I haven't looked there in about two years. It is hard to keep up with everything on the web too! Hang in there!

I'm so glad that you are feeling well enough to let us know what is going on with you. What a horrible thing to have to go through. Please enjoy life and focus on healing and what makes you happy. And dolls.

Hi again Dana!

My sister Marianne wanted me to tell you that she is holding you close in her prayers as I am. Take care my friend and know you are loved. :-)

Thanks so much for sharing this with us. I totally get withdrawing from blogging and not wanting the real world to intrude on a "happy place." I'm a complete heathen and don't pray but I'm sending good vibes your way.

D7ana, thanks for sharing this with us. Although we are scattered all over the world, we are indeed 'your people' and have been thinking about and missing you. Now we know, we can pray or send good vibes like Muff. Glad to hear you are back at your (new)home.
It sounds like your family are trying to take care of you but your sister may have discovered dolls and that's why she doesn't want to give them back.

Thank you so much for letting us know what is going on with you! I do wish you didn't have to be going through so much though. Know that my thoughts and prayers are with you. I have missed your very informative posts and your dolly adventures! Hoping to hear that you get control over whatever parts of your collection that you are missing and that your continue on your road to recovery. God bless you!

Thank you for letting us know what is going on with you. I have missed your posts and am keeping you in my prayers and thoughts. So glad you have your family support through this time. I know what you're going through as I am having some rough health issues at this time myself and my dolls are either on ebay or in storage, though I don't have a move to add into the mix. God bless and keep you safe!

Best wishes for your treatment and recovery.

Dana, my heart sank when I read this post at 4am this morning. I immediately sent prayers and hugs your way. I am soooo sorry that you are going through this. You sound a little upbeat in your post, and that is nice to hear. I'm glad you chose to share it with us. You never know how many people you will help, and how many blessings will come your way by just telling your story. A great support system is key. You know what else helps? Being able to talk to someone who knows what you are going through. So I will email you my phone number and I hope you will call. Sometimes it helps to talk to someone who knows what you are going through. I'm headed to chemo this morning, and I will be sleep for the next two days, BUT, I will be back to normal by Thursday. If you feel up to chatting, please call.

I am so very happy that you are back up and about. I was quite worried when I didn't see anything from you for a long time. And so what if you are not physically in Philly....I'm certain that Philly is still deep inside you. I hope you will be well again and reunited with your vinyl playmates. We've missed you.

Gosh, Dana, I thought you were just taking a break like we all do from time to time. Had no idea you were going though such difficulty. My heart just breaks. Sending much love and healing vibes and wishing you a good recovery.

Hi Ro! I'm always glad to hear from you. I'm still standing (or sitting or laying about, ha ha) as Billy Joel sings. Thanks for the love and healing vibes. Need them all.

Trying to see which dolls I have and which ones are still in storage. Lovely to re-connect with familiar faces.
