Mattel Hobbit Bodies

Hobbit bodies anyone? Here they are. These hobbit bodies belong to Rebelde Schoolgirls Mia (blonde) and Lupita (brunette). They are roughly 11" tall. Markings on the middle of their back read:

C2008 Mattel, Inc.

Rebelde Schoolgirls Mia and Lupita

Mia turns on her side for a profile shot. Lupita holds aside Mia's hair

Other Mattel Teen Fashion Dolls

Rio de Janeiro Skipper, Mystery Squad Drew, Generation Girl Lara, High School Musical Taylor and Rebelde Schoolgirl Lupita (dolls left to right)

The hobbit body is shorter than that of most of the teen fashion dolls shown here. Only High School Musical Taylor has a shorter torso; Taylor is about 10" tall. The hobbit dolls also have wider hips and more narrow shoulders. Neither the waist nor the bust twists for the hobbit dolls. Finally, their legs seem a little wobbly. But if you would like a different height and a different build for your teen dolls, the hobbit body can provide that difference.

Great post. She has the best body out the bunch. I say that because it is the most realistic body I have ever seen from Mattel. She actually has thighs!

actually I prefer the smaller bodies..I re-body my barbie and similar doll heads that I find onto the Disney Fairy doll bodies..they are 10 inch dolls. The are not fully articulated but they do look quite graceful. I purchase clothes for them from Etsy and the Blythe clothes fit really well.

Thanks, Vanessa and James.

I had not thought about how the hobbit bodies have thighs, lol. She does indeed. And it is neat to have variation in the doll builds.

I used to prefer the "cleaner" look of non-articulated dolls - no breaks in the body a la Frankenstein, Dollikins (shudder, lol). And some dolls I keep as they are because I like the build as in the Jakks Pacific G.I.R.L. Force dolls or the Mixis.

James, if you would like to share a link to any of your doll photos or doll blogs, please send the link or links in. Always love to see new doll arrangements ;-D

Oooohhhh, Vanessa! I'm gonna tell that you approved of a Mattel body, lol. Snap! Caught you online, lol. Serve you right for making me re-think the hobbit bodied Fashion Fever dolls. Oh ... might keep two of them.

thanks for your kind words I was nervous about you know I never collected a doll until this past year at age 49? i stumbled onto it by mother bought a tote of old toys at a yard sale and inside was a bunch of dolls all broken..some with no bodies. I found a red haired doll a Whitney from the mid 90's..I fell in love with her..but she needed a that's where the Disney 10 inch bodies came into play. For some strange reason i like dolls with red hair..or auburn or various shades. It all started with one I have maybe 8 that I have rescued and re-bodied. At first finding clothes was a nightmare until I found out about Etsy and the Blythe well as some Moxie...Liv..etc that I have found could be altered. The Barbie shoes fit perfectly since the Disney dolls have same size feet. Sorry for the long post..I am just happy to find a place I can share my new hobby I need to start a blog of my own or post some pictures on Flicker.

James, hi and thanks for submiting a long post. I'm always glad to hear from another collector, and as Vanessa writes, it is never too late to start collecting. (Well maybe if one is taking one's last breath, but short of that, we start at different times.) Let's have as much fun as we can. This is our safe zone.

Hi, Vanessa, inspiring enabler that you are!
