May Notes

What will PhillyCollector discuss this May? Well, this is Asian and Pacific-American Heritage Month. And looking over my last two years' coverage on this topic, I think I need to update my list of Asian and Pacific-American Heritage dolls and action figures. So that's one topic.

What else does May hold? Mother's Day. That means a special Mother's Day post. I can share photos of established (by manufacturers) doll and/or action figure mothers and their children. Midge and her parents, etc. Then I can also show mother(s) and child(ren) pairings created by me like Color Rave Janay and a Mattel Prince.

And how can I forget the International Black Doll Show held at the end of this month? Alas, as most of you probably know, the Philadelphia Doll Museum will NOT be doing the Show this year. I might have a tribute post about that.

I am organizing my collection so I'll share insights and tips on that project.

And I want to do a Mixis doll promotion ... so I can be sure that I can someday have those unreleased dolls ....

Projects galore, smile.

Hello from Spain: I really like your plans for the month of May. Last Sunday in my country we celebrate Mother's Day. It's a very family party. I'm looking forward to seeing your collection of Asian dolls. Keep in touch

I think the Philadelphia show was cancelled so that The National Black Doll Museum in Manchester, MA could host the doll convention and show this year.

I really want a post about Asian and Pacific American Heritage Month! I collect Asian dolls but have so few. It would be great to see what other dolls were produced.

Hi and thanks, Marta, MaleDollWorld, and Muff!

@Marta - I love how your Mother's Day post has Barbie with her mother and Barbie as a mother (to Shelly). Good to see the three generations together ;-)

@MaleDollWorld - Thanks for the information about the National Black Doll Museum. Hope they have a good time ;-)

@Muff - I hope you and Marta enjoy my posts on Asian Pacific American (APA) dolls. I might do more than one post on that theme ;-)

I would welcome a list of Asian and Polynesian dolls and action figures. Also, mother/offspring dolls would be so interesting. Please, please do it. Also, mature male figures, like with gray hair and/or wrinkles, if you really wanted to make my day. These types of lists are such a great resource. *smile*

I, too, would be interested in seeing more Asian dolls. More male dolls and action figures would be nice too. Moreville could always use more guys! LOL :-)

Hi Ro and Cindi! Okay, I am taking notes for the Asian and Pacific American dolls and action figures. (I will note when I usurp a figure's ethnic identity - smile - for example, taking a "Japanese" doll and revising her background to be "Japanese American.")

I'll also look into doing a post about ahem mature men ;-)
