Lost a Follower, Gained (an Improved) Perspective

I had had 132* followers (minus about 3 duplicate ones). Cool huh?

Recently though my Followers count dropped to 131 followers. Oh, no! What happened? I mean, you can stop "following" without removing the "following" link. Someone felt strongly enough, that he or she wanted me to know that. And I thank that person for the act because that act made me realize how bad a blogger I had become. Missed posts. Missed promises. Shame.

I have to remember that I need to earn my Followers. Keep you entertained and/or informed. Or else, you will leave. And I will miss you.

So it's back to writing and posting for me.

* Actually, I had fewer than that because about three people either liked the blog enough to "follow" twice OR they forgot that they had "followed" before. Shrug.

I'm not sure I'm formally a follower. I kinda just click a bookmark every so often ;)
Maybe the followers you lost were just inactive accounts that recently got deleted?

although i appreciate the followers, gaining followers have never been my objective. :)

i like to dance like no one was watching. only then can i be honest with myself. :)

The same thing happened to me. I couldn't tell who it was, so I didn't know if it was a dup correction or entertained & informed, or someone found my blog not what they thought it was. Maybe I should have had a copy of the list to compare it with. It was have nice for the blog to let me know who it was. I would also like to know who visit and not just who comments. Just me.

I lost a follower on the same day. There is a possibility that person has just decided to totally change their focus. I wasn't sure what happened, but I think I know who it is, at least for me. I had just received 2 other comments about how much my blog was loved, so I didn't take it personally. Especially since I have been blogging like crazy and throwing lots of different variety out there. Maybe it was them, and not your blog.

Wow, I can only hope to keep my followers entertained on a level they will continue to read and comment. I'm still here :O)

Question for you..do you know that at times when I click on your blog it takes me to a doll webring page? It starts on your page then just changes to the webring page. It happened a few times. Even while I'm on someone else's computer it happens.

Hi and thanks, all!

@ Alrunia - I think I know what you mean. I tour others' blogs when I see updates or want to refer back to a post I read and want to check again. Yes, the "lost follower" - gee, that is pretty arrogant of me, now that I think of it. I mean, someone no longer follows me and they are lost, lol? Maybe they just found something/somewhere else they would rather be. Tsk. Oh my ego ;D

@Niel - too true. When I first began blogging, I used to revel in being anonymous in plain view. And sometimes we can censure when thinking "audience."

@Ms. Leo - I thought of keeping a list, too, but then I thought, I would rather not keep tabs.

@Vanessa - there is that, that the person changed his or her focus altogether. And if you and Ms. Leo - hey, all of us in this conversation - lost followers, well, quality, variety, and stimulation are clearly not the source factors ;)

@Dollz4Moi - cannot imagine NOT reading your blog or NOT commenting. You got a fun site, pal ;-D.

The webring page switch glitch - how I think of that - happens to me, too. Very annoying I am finding it. It's on my list to remove myself from that webring. Thanks for letting me know that it happens for others as well as for me.

Again, thanks all for your reassuring responses.

I'm still here, and I love your blog : )

From my own perspective about my blog, (my number went down by two)the harder I try to post so I don't let people down, the harder it is to find joy in it. Keep the joy in it!

All of you might have lost me. I started using Google Reader instead of subscribing or following. I find Google reader to be MUCH more efficient. Sorry to cause a flurry. I do love all your blogs..just changing my blog consumption patterns. :-)

Hi Kristl and thanks for letting me know that you still follow PhillyCollector - not that I mean to force anyone ;-P - but it's good to have not LOST anyone.
