Moderation of Comments ... Change

I have been considering allowing comments to go without moderation. If the comments are recent. Older comments will need to be cleared by me. On the plus side, your comments are submitted quicker. So if I am not online, you can still see your comment. Others can see your comment. This will be good news for some of you - cough, Vanessa, lol - and leave others indifferent. Yes, I am loosening the chains. Hope that change inspires more comments.

On the other hand, I still need to check that the comments are relevant. So for those wanting to leave links about mail order brides or sports stuff, please note: I will delete off-topic posts UNLESS those posts are submitted by "known" doll enthusiasts. Wait, mail order bride and sports stuff will be deleted period. Fair, hmm?

Any comments about comments?

I'm doing my happy dance! LOL! As time went on, I didn't mind the moderation so much. It was the ROBOT and the moderation together. If in the future you find that you are getting too much spam, might I suggest moderation without the ROBOT? Just a suggestion.

IT WORKED! IT WORKED!

I'm loving this! I always had a hard time with the ROBOT and got frustrated with it a few times. So, D7ana....THANK YOU!!! Much easier now!

I'm with Vanessa - moderation without the annoying ROBOT. The reason I like moderation is for those sneaky spam posts with nasty links that make it to the moderation list because I've dismantled the ROBOT. It means having to weed them out but I don't mind if it protects an unsuspecting viewer.

I hope this way works better for you and encourages more comments,
D7ana.

For the record, know that it does not bother me to wait for my comments to be published obecause they will always be doll-related and/or on topic.

Proving that I am not a robot is an extra step, but I've gotten used to those quirky-looking letters and numbers.

Okay, it worked, and I'm seeing the point of this... but I think I still preffer doing without the pesky ROBOT even if it means the post is delayed.

Hi Vanessa, Cindi, Ro, and DBG!

Yay, I'm glad, too. I appreciate how I have been able to leave comments w/o the moderator, too.

Thanks for the prompt feedback!

I am thinking about this too! I will see how it works for you for a while first! Thanks for leading the way.

Hi D7ana, I was okay with it either way, but the great thing is that after I post, it is great to see it in black and white in case I made a typo. I can correct it right away.

I need to figure out how to get rid of the robots. I was wondering how some blogs go straight to posting and others require a...robot.

I don't mind either way although I must admit I do find the 'prove your not a robot' unreadable occasionally even when you're not a robot. You can always try this for a little while and see how it goes and re-enable it if you get too much spam.

I never had moderation because I can be away from blogger days on end and I didn't want people's thoughts getting stuck in space. I only recently turned off the Captcha (sp?) because I had such a hard time figuring it out on other peoples blogs. I mean, it's annoying, but after a few tries you get it. I also did it because in the past year I got like one spam comment so it didn't seem worth the annoyance.

I say keep the robot if it makes you comfortable.

Dana, something I do, that might help, is write after I do a post, I go in and 'subscribe by email', so I get the comments emailed to me right after they post. It helps me stay on top of the comments and I can catch any suspicious ones pretty quickly. In all of 2012, I had less than 5 spam comments. I noticed I got more spam when I put tags on my posts. I stopped using tags since people can still search my blog without them.

Hi Ms. Leo, Vicky, Carrickters, Muff, and Vanessa!

Thanks for sharing your experiences and interest about the comment aspect of blogging. I'm going to preview that messages that come to me when comments come in - thanks for that reminder, Vanessa.

And I'll see how to bypass the Captcha thing ;-D
