The Janus Post: Recent Past and Near Future Doings

January 31, 2017 - already? I'm still recovering from 2016. Ha!

Let's start with a health update. Good news: my lungs are clear (no cancer there). The two lesions on my liver have shrunk to 4mm each. I am to have another CT scan in March to see if I will need additional chemotherapy or if I can - oh please - get scheduled to have my colon returned.

State of my doll collection: some dolls and action figures are still in storage. I've created an Excel spreadsheet to track those I have and those I need to recover. So glad to reconnect with my play scale and other plastic people.

Collecting 2016 and beyond. Yes, I bought some doll in 2016. You bet I got some of those new Fashionistas, but I also got two of The Wanted guys and a few others. I'll share a post about them in February. Any guesses as to which Fashionista body shape I like best? Anyone want to share which if any of the Fashionista shapes you like? Any with favorites? Any want to share their favorite body type(s) in order of preference?

Camera status. Still need to get a new digital camera. I have received helpful suggestions on specific brands and models from doll buddies Debbie B. Garrett and Ms. Harley D. I MUST get a new camera. Must.

Online doll communities. I'm commenting and viewing posts and photos. Thanks to everyone who visited this blog during my absence and who return.

I had no idea you were ill! I am saddened, yet elated at your update! My prayers are going out to you pronto!

Isn't it grand that we have our plastic community that is always there for us? Stay well and here's to lots of dolly fun in 2017!

Yay on the good news! You have been missed.

I don't have any of the new Fashionista body types yet. Unless they are going to release an articulated curvy I'm sorta not interested. I would like a petite curvy girl actually and some sort of articulated Ken again.

I'm glad that you're doing better, and I hope you see continued improvement for 2017. I also hope that your collection and fellow collectors bring you happiness.

Hi D7ana!
I'm so happy you're doing better. I've missed you! May you be completely well in 2017. As for the fashionista bodies, I really don't care for any of them. I bought one and immediately re-bodied it. LOL I've had several new residents move in over the last couple of months though. It's so wonderful that our little doll friends bring us so much joy! :-)

Hi and thanks, The Grandmommy, for your kind words and prayers. Every positive vibe helps, I believe ;-)

Oh and I am going to bring on the good doll times. I've got months to catch up on!

Hi Muff! Thanks for enjoying with me and for your kind words. (Nice to be missed.)

There is an articulated curvy Fashionista available, BUT she's $85.00 before postage. Nice accessories but $85.00. (I usually don't pay that much for a single Barbie doll.) A petite curvy doll would be welcome as well as more articulated Kens.

Hi and thanks, Barb! Yes, my collection and my fellow collectors bring me lots of joy. I am lucky.

Hi, Cindi! Thanks. I've missed you for some time. Glad to be back online. I understand how articulated bodies are more fun. I agree with you and Muff on that point. Some of my stiff folk will get new bodies, too. I look forward to meeting your new people. Play scale people are fun, too.

That is such wonderful news! I was praying for you. I hope you are on your road to 100% recovery.

I love the curvy dolls. So much so, that I have no plans on rebodying them. I'm imagining they are your favorite of the new sizes. I prefer the curvy dolls with the straight arms. They can be incorporated into the stories better that way. Hip Hop Hoodie is my favorite male doll Mattel has every produced.

We are soooo happy to have you back. You were sorely missed. Welcome back!

I'm such a dolt, I had no idea you were sick! I'm sorry you're sick, but I'm glad you're doing okay for now.

Regarding your post, I adore the new Fashionistas. I had gotten the new redhead with the cat shirt but...something happened to her. I have no idea what, but I think I accidentally left her on the top of the car. If so she likely fell off in the front yard of a little kid I know, so she got a free doll! That ticked me to be so careless, though!

Glad to here you are doing better. You have been and still are in my thoughts and prayers. Glad to hear that you are keeping track of your dolls! I love it that you do this on a spreadsheet -- you are a girl after my own heart! You might be surprised what I keep track of on spreadsheets and databases!

My favorite of the new Fashionista bodies is also the Curvy body. I do own the Madame Lavinia doll and love that she is articulated. My favorite body type of all is the Made to Move Body and pretty much all of my other new Fashionistas have been rebodied to that body. If they didn't get a MTM body, they were given some other type of articulated body. I wish Mattel would offer replacement MTM bodies in all skin tones and body types! I do think they have done a nice job with the new faces though.

I hope that 2017 is a year of recovery for you!

Dear D7ana,
Glad to hear that your health is improving and welcome back to the blogosphere. I've purchased a few of the new Fashionista Barbies for my collection, but the big draw for me wasn't the new body types, it was the hair. Anyone who reads my blog knows that I have a penchant for dolls with 'fantasy hair colors'. So far I've bought the Curvy Barbie with blue hair and, more recently, the Curvy Barbie with pale pink hair. I had considered buying the Fashionista doll with the short, pale purple hair, but I didn't like her face.
Best of luck for the rest of your recovery.
Signed, Treesa

Hi, Vanessa! Good to hear from you here. (You know I go to your blog regularly when I go online. I admire how you post often and such fun posts, too!) Thanks for your prayers and for sharing my happiness.

Yes, the curvy dolls are fun. I have a few of them ... and I'm looking to add more of them. I do like the curvy bodies, but I'm not saying which body type is my favorite just yet. (Yeah, I'm a meanie, ha ha.) I can accept them not articulated because they are a nice contrast to the original and other ... straighter? bodied dolls.

I want Hip Hop Hoodie. He's not here yet. Sending out vibes for him to join me and mine.

So good to be back with my doll buddies. Got lots of ideas to share and don't want to miss anyone else's stuff.

Hi, RagingMoon1987! You must not call any of my doll buddies a dolt. Remember how cool we are. Thanks for your good wishes - I'll greedily accept them. I wish them back to you, too. Good wishes.

Aw ... shame about losing the petite redhead. I lost most of my Love dolls years ago when I left them on the porch. Maybe that little kid was vibing for that particular doll. The Universe said, hey, this is the quickest way to get that doll to that kid. (And you were so obliging as to forget the doll. Very generous of you to do so, hmmm?) So maybe you'll get a replacement doll for her? Or find another that you love even better. I'm sending vibes that you get another doll.

Hi, Phyllis! Thanks for your prayers and positive thoughts. When I first saw my dolls after months of doll-deprivation, it was like my heart sprouted arms that rose up to reach them. My babies, my people! And I got my computer with my spreadsheets and some old lists I'd printed out so the tracking was part of getting back to being me. Ah, yes, you understand - you're a sister tracker ;-)

I like the curvy body, too. I don't have the Madame Lavinia doll yet. Might get her. Might. But I do have one of the Made to Move dolls. She is so cool. I will get more to rebody favorite dolls. And oh, yes, I wish that Mattel would make more complexions of that series so that we can rebody other dolls.

I'm doing my best to make 2017 a breakthrough year.

Hi, Super Cool Doll House! So happy to be back - a big cyber hug to you. I hope to see posts from you too - when you can. The BJDs are cool, too. Like YOU!

Hi, Black Doll Enthusiast! Yay, Debbie! Thanks for your prayers and good wishes and advice. You've helped keep me here and healthy.

A new camera goes hand-in-glove with blogging. Or some kind of picture-taking device. Psst ... God/Universe. Not to be greedy here, but I'm vibing for a new camera. I've made peace with the loss of my old one. That was meant to be, etc.

Hi, Male Doll World! Good to see you here. Thanks for your sharing my joy and for sending positive vibes. I hope you enjoy the posts-to-come. Only fair because I enjoy your posts and photos ;-)

Hi, Treesa! Thanks for sharing my joy and your positive wishes.

Congratulations on your new dolls. I need to catch up on your blog posts. (Glad to see you have the Followers up. I'd added your blog to my Blog List, but now I can "show" my support.) While I don't collect by unusual hair color, I do have some dolls that happen to have unusual hair colors. You've given me an idea for a future blog post ... dolls with fantasy and unexpected hair color. Thanks for that, too!

Here's to a happy, healthy, and chatty 2017 for us all!

I'm so glad to read this post, it brings a smile to my face. I want you to continue to be healthy and stay positive. Yes, doll purchase in 2016 have been small for me too. Now that my other habit(dentist appts) are now far and few between, hopefully I will be able to create like a really want too.

D7ana said...

Hi, Brini! I smile to see you here. Thanks for your kind wishes. Fewer doll purchases are better than NO doll purchases. Glad that you're having fewer dentist visits - wincing in sympathy - and I'm looking forward to your new creations. Happy 2017!

So very happy to learn that health-wise things are going much better for you, D7ana. And it's always great to see a post from you as well. During such trials and tribulations, I am very touched that you still took the time to visit my blog and I thank you from the bottom of my heart. I look forward to seeing many more posts from you in the year to come.

D7ana said...

Hi, April! You are so kind. Thanks for the positive wishes and support. I visit your blog because it's colorful, fun, and thought-provoking. I'd like my posts for this year to meet the interest standards set by you and my "fellow" bloggers.

Congratulations on the health front. I hope things just continue to get better.

I keep trying to search for better photo taking options too. Right now, I use my Ipad. I just can't figure out how to best use a camera for clear photos.

I like the faces on the new Fashionistas, but I'm so into articulation with my Play dolls, that none of their body types are a favorite for me. I can't wait to see your post with your dolls and action figures.

D7ana said...

Hi, Jaye! Thanks for celebrating with me and your positive wishes.

Your IPad produces nice photos. I need to catch up on your blog, but the photos I see are clear and large enough to enjoy. Striving for better photos though happens to us as bloggers.

Oh, I will rebody some of the Fashionistas. I prefer articulated dolls and action figures, too.

Jewell said...

Welcome back! You were missed. I'm happy to hear that your health has improved and to see you posting again. I'm not crazy about any of the new body types that lack articulation. I do have the articulated curvy Madam Lavinia but her proportions are actually different from the curvy Fashionistas. She was my favorite doll of 2016.

It is good to see you blogging again. I am glad you are feeling better. My mother just had major surgery for ovarian cancer so I know how tough it can get, you just have to keep on fighting. Sending you lots of prayers and positive thoughts. I probably have a tiny collection of dolls compared to yours but I enjoy them. From a Philly girl who moved to sunny Florida.

D7ana said...

Hi, Jewell! Thanks for the welcome and for missing me. Thanks for sharing that Madam Lavinia has different proportions from the curvy Fashionistas. I've seen her reviewed on Broken Barbie YouTube Channel so I can see how she'd be your favorite doll of 2016.

I've been to your site. Boy, do I need to get caught up. The Deidre-Walter situation exploded. Oh my!

Hi D7ana!
I've been absent of the blogsphere too - personal and professional life a real mess. I didn't know of your health problems, but I'm glad it seems to be going positively, all things considering. I'm hoping that my regular blogging returns soon too :)

D7ana said...

Hi V.! Glad to read that in addition to your small child, you and your husband are moving to new positions. Congratulations on those accomplishments. I am catching up on blog and social media sites. Glad to see you still blogging when you can. Your Mori Girl fashions are adorable. Thanks for sharing ;-)
