2015 Resolutions and Goals

That time again. L.A. Luxe Susie opens her arms to 2015. Resolution and goal-setting time.

I have been thinking along these lines.

1. Decide what I want to keep

2. Sell what I no longer want

3. Post more frequently on my blog; schedule posts

4. Experiment more with doll photography

5. Participate more often in doll group activities

6. Join Barbie Club and Integrity W Club

Not much to do, hey? Anyone else with doll-themed resolutions? Share ;-)

A lot of your resolutions resonate with me. I actually want to buy my first digital camera (I am such a Luddite) so I can play around with doll photography.

In fact, I want to play with my dolls more, in general. 2014 was a year for collecting. I want this to be a year of enjoying my collection.

Cheers!

Good luck with your resolutions! I'm not making any, cause I wouldn't keep them anyway. ;)

Happy new year, dear! Mine would be a lot of doll-related resolutions because I had just quit my job to focus on my little hobby, not turned business... Stay consistent at making dolly clothes, and blog as often as possible about this new chosen adventure. Cheers and good luck to us all :) Hugs,
shasha

Good luck with your resolutions, they are good ones. I also agree with thinning out the herds. Ihave two or three, no four tubs of varying sizes with dolls and more incoming. I have found thru my collecting I am going to be more selective this year instead of joining in and buying ALL of the pretty dolls. Barbie collector gives you four rewards and you can really rack up if you use them with the free shipping they sometimes offer. W Club I have resolved to scale back...I have literally been pelted with dolls, not complaining but it hurts the wallet for props, etc.

Hi D7ana, you have a good list! I have unexpected not-doll related things to take care of this year, so my resolution is to spend as little money on dolls as possible, because the cash is needed for other things. Good luck with your resolutions :-)

I'm on Team Enjoy What's Here Because I Acquired Plenty in 2014, along with Saturday Sequins.

This has to be the year of finally learning to sew, as clothing the naked mob in store-bought clothes would need a whompus budget.

Good luck with your doll resolutions this year! As for me, I don't have any. I expect that I will have less time for dolls this year.

I made no resolutions for this year but my continuing them from 2012/3/4 is organizing my massive collection LOL. I'm trying to get myself back in to the sorting & selling but I procrastinate.

I am going to put in an effort to take more pictures, blog more, & just share in general some of my crazy :O)

I hit send too soon LOL. I only joined WClub last year. I didn't do Barbie Collector and I may do that again this year. I also have to be a lot more selective and keep it down to 40 or less for all my doll purchases. Believe me there are plenty leaving the island

I like your list. My dolly goals involve creating new furniture designs, developing furniture for the larger fashion dolls, sewing and possibly offering clothes for the larger fashion dolls, selling some of the extra dolls I have, and continuing to organize the basement. Good luck on your goals!

Hi D7ana! I'm setting some goals too. I don't know if I'll renew my WClub membership, I still have a little time to decide about this. I'm sure going to try to keep the collecting under control!

Hi Saturday Sequins, IHime, Shasha, Lisa Neault, Night Owl, Smaller Places, RoxanneRoxanne, Dollz4Moi, Vanessa, and Billa's Dolls and Fashions!

@Sarah of Saturday Sequins - I wish you joy with the digital camera in your future. If you use re-chargeable batteries, you not only bypass film costs, you reduce battery costs.

@IHime - thanks for the wish. LOL. Well, I'm determined to fulfill my goals this year. I wish you doll-good-times.

@Shasha - best wishes for success with your new venture. I'll see about pinning your fashions on my Pinterest DAF Fashions board.

@Lisa Neault - thanks for the wish. I need to be more selective when I start buying again. I *know* that I'll be getting at least 1 Barbie item so I thought, get the discount ;-)

Like you, I have tubs of dolls, action figures, and accessories that need to be reviewed. Sigh. Fun!

@Night Owl _ good strategy, buy one year and appreciate the next. We can still have fun opening MIB dolls or just re-appreciating older dolls. (Real life has COSTS, too.)

@Smaller Places - I read you; I've been appreciating what I have for some time.

@RoxanneRoxanne - I hope you enjoy what time you have for your doll folk. I look forward to whatever you share.

@Dollz4Moi - I'm reading you, too. We need to pare down to enjoy the jewels we have.

@Vanessa - oh your latest sofa is topnotch. The fabric, pattern, colors and detailing look cozy enough for me to sit on it.

Thanks for the wish and I return it - best luck for the completion of your goals.

@Billa's Dolls and Fashions - best wishes for your goals, especially keeping the collecting under control. We ought to be tab checking buddies, lol.

Hmm. Time is my enemy when it comes to my dolls so there's no point in my resolving to do this, that or the other. I'm just going to enjoy my dolls and crafting whenever I can. I guess that's a resolution, lol, to enjoy myself.

Good luck! I'm trying to purge the excess and photograph more as well.

It's fun reading about everyone's goals. My goal is to set a budget for doll-related spending and stick to it. Good luck everyone!

You have some achievable goals, so many blessings for you in making it all happen. I didn't make any resolutions this year, but I have set a few goals with the most important being to enjoy my collection more by deboxing dolls that are "extra" special to me. I couldn't figure out why or what I was saving them for. I will continue my eBay sells more aggressively and also to blog more. In fact, I have already beat my number of post from 2013 and 2014. Lol! So thus far I am off to a good start.

Yes, that time of the year again :P
The first 3 of your goals could be mine too...maily to post more often in my blog except that usually includes taking photos and with a baby that is a quite hard activity nowadays! But I'll do my best to post things and to keep up with your posts too :)

Hi Super Cool Doll House, Muff, MissSpottyJane, Jewell, Georgia Girl, and V.!

@Super Cool Doll House - I'm happy dance excited here ;-)

Blog on with your Super Cool Self, enjoy those BJDs, and share your organizing tips. (Yes, I'm nosy like that, lol.)

Thanks for the wish. Wish you luck with the weight loss (could stand to lose some myself, ha!) and your other real life stuff.

@Muff - when you enjoy yourself, you post cool videos and inspiring blog posts. Yay for you enjoying your dolls and crafting. I wish you luck and am transmitting positive vibes.

@MissSpottyJane - thanks for the wish and I wish you luck with your sales and photography ;-)

@Jewell - I agree; fun to read others' goals. Thanks for the wish. Good luck with your budgeting ;-)

@Georgia Girl - I thnk scaling back and being specific may help me get the goals done.

Yeah, who are we saving "special" dolls for? Except where the packaging is particularly good ... drawing a blank now, I'll be deboxing, too.

Wishing you luck with your eBay sales and posting more on your blog - yay!

@V. - I wish you time to do blog posts, but I appreciate you've got a living doll to nurture. Post and visit when you can. I wish you happiness online and off. Happy 2015 to you and yours!

Resolutions. Well, I want to dolly blog more often than I have been. Right now I'm having problems with photography. It was nice and sunny earlier but my camera's battery was dead. Once I found the battery and the charger, it had gotten cloudy. There's always tomorrow, I guess.

I do have some dolls that I want to get rid of, but my bigger goal is sewing more for my dolls. That shouldn't be hard, since I sewed hardly anything last year! :)

Best wishes for your resolutions!

D7ana said...

Hi Barb the Evil Genius! Thanks for the wish. I have sun/light problems, too. I wish us both better luck in that department.

Sewing can be fun. My situation is opposite to yours; I'd like to sew, but I MUST reduce the quantity of dolls I have ;-}

Eh, but let's get things done ;-D

Happy New year! And I think your list sounds wonderfully attainable! :)

And I can't say anything about the barbie club, but joining the W club is definitely worthwhile!

I haven't made any resolutions per se for the new year other than to photograph my dolls more, try to get some photostories _done_ and keep stuff in the etsy shop so it doesn't seem like a ghost town most of the time ;)

Since 2014 ended up being a bumper year for doll acquisitions I think that 2015 will be a leaner (or no doll) year for me. It's ok though, I enjoy seeing everyone who shares their photos and props.

Have a great new year and let's hope that winter passes quickly so we can shoot outdoor photos in more tolerable temperatures!

D7ana said...

Hi Erica!

Happy new year to you, too!

Joining the doll clubs might be the thing I don't get to do this year. Shrug ... we'll see ....

I have to check out your 2014 doll ranking. Glad you had a bumper year; I'll enjoy seeing your haul. Meaning to weed through my collection to allow new dolls.

Oh, yes, off with Winter and come on, Spring! Outside photo time!

Great list! My goals are to take more pictures, learn more about doing videos (my video skills suck), learn to customize dolls and make more clothes. My wish list is down to 6. So I don't feel pressed for a doll fix but I do have one coming in the mail. I haven't seen many girl dolls I want. It is mostly guys. Organization I think everyone does in January. I'm doing a gardening blog too so posting is an issue.

D7ana said...

Hi Ms. Leo!

We share some goals - I'd like to work on videos, customizing dolls, and sewing, too. Later this year ...

Congrats on your wish list being down to six and on the new doll a-coming.

Good luck with your gardening blog. I would LOVE to house grow some herbs, vegetables, and fruit. Your fave - The Philadelphia Flower Show - will be coming soon. Hope you enjoy that, too.
