Chic Boutique Dolls, Ubiquitous BUT Mysterious

I cannot find much information about Chic Boutique, a doll manufacturer with several inexpensive doll series sold in Toys R Us, Kmart, possibly Walmart, and probably not at Target. These are NOT expensive dolls and they have limited articulation. (Think straight legged and straight armed vintage Barbie and friends. Yes, that's the picture.) However, mystery aside, here are a few photos of these dolls.

I was intrigued by that, too. Doll Head or Cimmi used to work for Chic Boutique. They even made a doll inspired by her. How cute is that?!

That doll is incredibly cute. Love the accessories. Chic Boutique must have appreciated her work.

Everyone should have a portrait doll. I like that idea ;-D

Despite their lack of articulation, I think they still have cute faces!

Yes, Diva Nay, they do have pretty faces. I love the slight smirk the closed mouth dolls have. The short hair style on the blue-floral dressed doll provides nice contrast to the usual long-haired styles.

Hi There Dolls!!! I just stumbled on this and am happy to see the doggie I designed and did the package illustration for! I had forgotten that! Chic Boutique was a tiny company that was based in Santa Barbara, CA. It was started by the talented Sarah Nguyen. You can read about it at my blog, I just did a post~ check out thedollhead.com
Chic Boutique made many beautiful dolls for a few years, including the line Hottiez! I worked there for about 2 years when I first started out int he toy industry~ xo- thedollhead

How much are they worth, I wonder?

Hi The Dollhead! Sorry I missed this comment. That's cool that you worked for Chic Boutique. I'm glad you could see some of your work online. I'm not sure if I still have that doll - I lost many when I moved. Walmart and Big Lots! might still carry Chic Boutique dolls. I've checked your blog and left comments. Thanks for visiting.
