Drug Store Dolls Found -- Tis the Season for Bland Fare

Saw these dolls at a local Rite Aid Drug store: Justin Bieber and a Holiday Wish Barbie. My online buddy Omar aka Actionman81 mentioned that the Justin Bieber doll looked like a remake of Shane from Camp Rock. As goofy as I thought that doll was, this one looks worse. I mean did the company melt away ANY personality that the singer/doll could possibly have? What do you think?

The Barbie looks like a basic recent Barbie. Zzzzzz ....

that's the thing about celebrity dolls, they don't look like celeb at all...except the hair maybe lol

I'd so get the JB doll anyway, I have a thing for non-Ken guys even if he looks.. well.. less than intelligent. In fact he kind of looks like a peg with a face, haha. But the clothes are pretty cool and maybe the body is nice?
You're right about the Barbie. So overpriced too, she comes with nothing at all, she should have been in a narrow box at a narrow box price.

I agree "iLham!" When the doll looks like the celeb, it's more interesting!

Hi Alrunia! Yes, the clothes for JB, look better than he does. LOL.

Yes, the Barbie should be a third of that cost. $20 for that one? Huhck.

I saw them in the Toys R Us in Cedarbrook. The singing ones looked better than the non singing ones and the clothers were better too! I might get one after Xmas.

Thanks for the tip, Ms. Leo! I'll see how the singing dolls compare to the "standard(?)" ones.

I don't think think the Justin Bieber one looks all that bad - but then, I have low standards (and low expectations) for celebrity dolls. I've got to agree with Alrunia about teh "less than intelligent" expression, but then that is part of the charm.

I agree totally on the Barbie - I think they want too much for what amounts to a very basic Barbie. It seems like the designers aren't even trying - uninspired dress, uninspired jewelry, uninspired packaging. The list price for that doll is $14.99 at amazon.

Hi Kim! Yes, celebrity dolls usually don't match expectations. I don't mind if the doll doesn't look like the person, LOL, but when they look vacuous ....

Then again, I have some dolls who look wide-eyed and brainless, too. But the company producing this Justin, did a great job at presenting humanoid blah.

I'm a Mattel/Barbie fan, but sometimes they don't even pretend to do more than rubberstamp dolls. Shame because they can make some striking dolls. Guess they can't bat a 1000, hmmm?

I think they got the Justin doll all wrong. That doll should not have molded hair. Just that little change would have made a big difference. Just curious, is he at all poseable? I have a feeling the answer is no.

Rooted hair would improve the doll, lots, Vanessa.
