Another Plane, A Gelato Truck, and a Mobile Home

Anyone seeking raw material for new playsets? How about an airplane with a cockpit AND passenger seating, or a gelato truck, or a mobile home? Got your attention? Good.

I was walking by a Toys R Us Express store when I saw three NEW fashion doll playsets. Yes, for 11.5 dolls. No, I'm NOT talking about Mattel playsets. Not talking about Hasbro stuff either. These playsets are from a generic toy company whose name might be "Sweet" although more likely, that is the brand name for their playscale toys. I have not bought any of these sets yet, but I did want to alert PhillyCollector readers to these roughly $39.95 each set. Let's start with the airliner ....

Next to the gelato truck - note, NOT "ice cream truck" - "gelato truck" ....

And here is the mobile home ....

Since I do not own any of these new toys, I found other links to provide additional reviews and photos about them:

Airliner review and photos

More airliner reviews here and here

Reviews for the mobile home, can be read here. Happy reading. Please share any projects - big smile.

I have not seen these in any stores. They look interesting. I hope the company produces more items.

Adrian and Hey,It's Muff, they don't seem to be available at TRU regular; try TRU Express.

Idea: maybe Big Lots! might carry them because Big Lots! has carried those generic playscale toy furniture sets ....

Glad to share the info ;-D

You're welcome, Ms. Leo! I agree, your folks definitely need a plane. Isn't one of your gentlemen a pilot?

I haven't been to the TRU in Willow Grove in AGES, lol. I saw these sets in the TRU Express in the Gallery, Market East (Center City). Good luck getting one.

Hello from spain: the line of the plane, ice-cream carts... also sold in Spain and they are the poor version of Mattel. The furniture is as more speedy. I prefer Mattel. 'Sweet' is not a very cheap brand in Spain. I love seeing the photos with toys in stores. Very good entry.

This company put out other sets. I have a livingroom, kitchen, & bathroom set. They are also the ones who had a Sushi Bar and an Internet Cafe.

Loving the mobile home. Would love to see the Gelato truck up close. I will keep my eye out. We don't have a TRU express here, that I know of. Adrian if you see them, let me know and I will do the same.

Hi and thanks, Marta, Dollz4Moi, and Vanessa!

Marta - the $39.99 price for these playsets makes them more expensive here, too. However, I think that these sets have MORE than a comparable Barbie playset.

I have been told that I cannot photograph inside Toys R Us (let's pretend that I never did, lol) so I could not get better photographs. I can take pictures of toy stuff in Target and Walmarts though. But I LOVE to see dolls and toys in store windows. I do not press my face against the glass, but I in my imagination, I do. Like a kid looking in at a sweets shop. Oh.

Dollz4Moi - I have I have a living room and a kitchen from Sweet, too. (Need to find photos of them. I might have had a bathroom set, too. Need to check my stuff.) However, I have NOT seen a Sushi Bar nor an Internet Cafe. Do you have any photos to share or links to photos of those sets? I would LOVE to see them. Yes, I am snoopy ;-D

Vanessa, doesn't the mobile home conjure up story ideas? Would be fun to have about 4 of them as a neighborhood. Sigh. Not the space or the funds at this time.

Gelato truck sounds divine, too. I mean not just plain old ice cream. Gelato ... creamy cold melt in your mouth goodness. Sighs and gazes into space ... Ciao Bella ... oh! Frozen confections and cookies get me anytime. Back to dolls ....

Toys R Us Express stores sometimes are where K B Stores once were. You won't find the newer stuff at TRUX stores; you find older stuff there. There are some TRUX in Georgia; I am not sure if they are in your area though or if they are open year round.

Thanks so much for the link to the TRUX! (I think) There is one relatively close. I'm scared to go look though.

You're welcome! Mind, I have NO ulterior motives like wanting to see photos of these pieces revamped.

Moi? Pas du tout, lol.

Oh and TRUX is my shortcut. Makes sense to me ;-D

This is great info. I have not seen these but the moderate prices and the pack-up-and-store nature make them very enticing to me.

Dana look here for a picture of the sets..

I have them packed somewhere..LOL

Hi Kristl! Try Toys R Us Express stores - not the regular TRU stores. I don't recall ever seeing these portable playsets in the regular stores; my guess is that these were items that would have gone to KB Toys, but after TRU absorbed KB Toys, TRU got those remainder items. The price and easy pack up qualities attract me, too. But I'd also like to modify them to my tastes; they seem to be of a good enough quality to take a reworking.

Thanks, Dollz4Moi for that link to the other two sets. They resemble an ice cream stand that I bought from a dollar store. Only the dollar store item probably has less durability. But I had not seen either of those two playsets that you showed until I clicked your link. Yay, Dollz4Moi!
