Trichelle's Plum Ride

Last year, Grace got one. This year, it's Trichelle's turn. Alas, it seems to be the same purple convertible that Grace got, maybe in a little bit lighter shade of purple. Plum? Sigh. This time though, the car actually belongs to Trichelle, courtesy of the back of the box photo shown here.

Here is a close-up showing the new Animal Print Trichelle seated in her purple convertible.

Anyone else of the opinion that the So in Style gals could use another color and style of car?

I think all the Barbie gals need a new color and style of car! LOL Perhaps a silver or black Ferrari or Corvette. If Mattel ever made a real sports car for Barbie, I'd be the first in line to buy it! LOL :-)

Hi Cindi! Actually, Mattel has a red Ferrari and I have a red Barbie corvette. I have to find mine though ;-P

Those teeth are just so... toothy. They are not flattering at all. At least they are trying something different though.

That's like a starter car. Something to mess up until you get a nicer one.

Never knew about the Ferrari. Thanks for letting me know about it. :-)

Hi Muff - I agree about the added teeth. I would paint them out first thing. This is one case where different doesn't work ;-P

Hi Cindi - oh, yes, Barbie (and Ken and some friends) have had some neat cars. My pleasure sharing dolly knowledge ;-D

@Muff - for all the Barbie and other playscale vehicles I have had through my years collecting, I have little practical information about cars. So I appreciate learning that this type of car is a good starter one. Maybe the fathers of the S.i.S. dolls get a discount for selling repeat versions of that car? (Like Mattel does not save by using the one car mold, lol.)

I customized her for a swap this weekend and she was not that bad once I did a repaint on her lips. I am probably the only one likes them : )

Hi Georgia Girl! I'd love to see your repaint of her. If/when you get a chance ...

It's nice to hear that someone likes the new mouths on these dolls. You may not be alone in your liking them: surely Mattel did some kind of market tests? Somebody or bodies must have seen the new design and gave thumbs up for it. Wondering now ... ;-)

Yeah, there have been several Barbie sports cars over the years. I inherited my cousin's Barbie Silver 'Vette from 1984, corresponding with Barbie's 25th anniversary and companion car to Crystal Barbie-there's a few missing parts (I don't remember all of them offhand, but I know one of the mirrors is missing), so I need to find someone who's selling them for a reasonable price. My MyScene Madison doll will get the Silver 'Vette once I've restored it, but she'd love Trichelle's car until then!

Hi Nikki! Several collectors have lucked out finding fair condition Barbie cars at thrift stores. If you don't mind refurbishing playscale cars, that might be a way for you to get an inexpensive ride for your My Scene Madison.

If you take photos of your Silver Vette, do send a link showing them. I love seeing playscale cars and vehicles.

(Note to self: find my red corvette ....)

Thanks Dana! Sorry for the late reply-my house has been Grand Central Station lately. I'll have to keep an eye out for decent Barbie cars. Thrift stores and sale prices are my friends since I'm in college and need to save money!

If I do take photos of my Silver Vette or decide to share my other photos (I have some really nice Barbie photos I'd love to show people), I'd be in the same boat as you were a while back about being picky about finding a place to post them. I'd probably end up just starting a blog of my own to show them on. If I find the time to do that, I'll definitely send a link!

Oops! Forgot to say a couple of my other My Scene girls have cars too. Delancey has the purple VW New Beetle from way back in 2001, and last year I got the Mini Cooper-it may have been made for Ken, but it went straight to Chelsea! Again, if and when I find the time to start a blog, I'll send a link!

Speak of the devil, Dana! I was just at the flea market this morning and I found a nearly-perfect Barbie car from 2007! It's a two-seater and sort of a dark mauve color, and my dad said the body looks like an Aston Martin, so now Madison has a Bond car! Thanks so much for your tip, and when I get a blog started there will definitely be a photo of the Aston on there!

Shani from the early 90's also had a gold corvette

Hi Nikki and Anonymous!

@Nikki - Yay you! Sounds like a keeper that mauve Aston Martin. I've got a Sindy Mini Cooper from Canada. Alas, my extra photos of that car are no longer at Webshots - I'll have to upload them again or take new ones. Sigh. Other cars and motor vehicles (bikes, skooters, etc.), too.

@Anonymous - thanks for the reminder about Shani's gold ride. I had forgotten that ;-)

@ Cindi - You didn't know that Darius' red Ferrari was from Mattel? The Langfords white Ferrari is also from Mattel.

@ Georgia Girl - I would love to see the repaint. I too think it's more the lipstick on this doll versus the teeth. I don't mind the idea of the teeth, but some of their paint jobs are just so bad. Luckily it is just paint, so people can change them as they see fit.

@ Vanessa - I LOVED your playscale vehicle scenes. So lifelike.

Regarding the lip paint jobs on these SiS dolls, everyone, is it the colors or that the teeth seem to hover ghostlike over the lips?
