Frozen Dolls

The movie will be out November 27, 2013, but you can find the dolls from the Disney movie Frozen in stores now. Frozen is about two sisters, Anna and Elsa and their adventures as they attempt to restore their kingdom of Arendelle from an eternal winter. Anyone thinking a modern, cheerier version of Hans Christian Andersen's The Snow Queen with siblings replacing Gerda and Kay and the Snow Queen?

Here are the two wide-eyed sisters: Elsa (left) and Anna (right). Elsa has the power to create snow and ice. She accidentally triggers the "eternal winter." Anna, the younger and optimistic sister, wants to reconnect with her sister and to restore the land to its former four season glory. Head nod. Maybe the commission of the story will be more exciting than the premise, but I see a definite pass on this one. I never liked the fairy tales where the younger siblings win out over the older ones. Why not? I AM the oldest sibling. Sigh.

And here is the back of the box for these dolls.

If any of you see this movie this Thanksgiving, do let me know how you found it. I thank you in advance for that favor.

I saw these today too... at Kmart. I was wondering who the heck they are. Now I know. :)

There are multiple versions of these dolls already out at Walmart and at book stores. Only the Disney store has the articulated ones and other stores get the funky ones with colored party parts.

I have only seen the male character at Books A Million but not in any other stores yet. He's very wide and husky.

The movie may be good but I'm with you about the older/younger sibling thing - I'm the oldest too. I wonder how long it will be before these dolls make it here?

Hi Super Cool Doll House, Muff, and Carrickters!

@Super Cool Doll House - I had to look them up online; I don't usually follow Disney news. But new playscale dolls? Them I try to keep up with, lol.

@Muff - Oh now I have to get one of those guys - Hans is it? Nice to have a few husky guys in the mix. Balance out my slimmer guys.

Thanks for the reminder that the articulated ones come from the Disney store.

@Carrickters - yeah, how many times have we bailed our younger siblings out, hmmm? High five, oldest sister ;-)

There are fuller reviews on these dolls at NeverGrowUp for those interested in seeing the Disney store dolls.

Nothing special about these dolls nor the movie, that's my opinion...

I'm an older sister as well! As a matter of fact, I have two younger sisters. Middle sis especially leaned on me when she started high school.

When I first saw that the Disney movie Frozen was coming out, I thought maybe it would be related to the Snow Queen. This movie seems to have little relation to that story, to me. It reminds me more of some sort of Wizard of Oz reimagining that the SyFy channel put out a few years ago. Zooey Deschanel was the younger sister (again!) trying to rescue her older sister from a witch.

Hi V. and Barb -

@V. thanks for sharing your opinion. Glad that you have seen the dolls and yay, it's good that you do not find them special. There are far too many dolls we do find special ;-)

@Barb - yes, the movie plot is less like the Snow Queen than I had original thought. In the Snow Queen, the Queen was a villain; here she is not.

Five five to another oldest sister. Love the younger siblings, yes. But usually the propping up is on the other side ;-D
