Hey, Jean-Claude Van Damme Has an Action Figure by Enterbay!

I am sharing this information for those who might be interested: Enterbay has produced a sixth scale Jean-Claude Van Damme action figure. Okay, I am familiar with Van Damme as a martial arts actor. He looks competent as far as I can tell. He is okay - I can watch him in a movie, but I wouldn't go out of my way to see him. He used to be popular in action adventure movies. I haven't seen much of him lately so his getting an action figure now provoked mild curiosity when I saw Action Figure Fury's article about him..

What about him being a new Enterbay figure? Well, I have no Enterbay figures so I cannot comment on their work. They have done some Bruce Lee figures and lots of sports figures. I loathe team sports in general so unless the figure is on sale or strikingly good-looking, I don't follow them. Bruce Lee was/is cool. Period. But his Enterbay figure is over $100.00 so ... I never rushed to get him.

In addition to the Action Figure Fury's article, I checked two reviews. One from an action figure enthusiast who had NOT received the figure at the time of the YouTube video; the other from an enthusiast who had received the figure. While I liked the cheerful excitement of the first reviewer, I felt a little saddened by his and some of the commenters' disappointment that the figure does not depict the young actor. (The Enterbay figure resembles the current Van Damme.) The second review reminded me that sometimes, it is wiser to wait for the actual product's appearance before buying expensive figures. I'm including another review of another Enterbay figure because this particular figure (the Van Damme one) might be an exception. (If you have one or more Enterbay figures, please chime in here in the Comments or share a link with your experience.)

Have I stirred your interest in all things Jean-Claude Van Damme? Check his official website. Enjoy!

As a good patriot I have to defend our national proud Jean-Claude against the second reviewer ;-D. He was obviously not happy, but the figure is nice I think! I must admit I have never seen a movie with him in it, not my taste, but he's Belgian, so yaay Jean-Claude! :-)

The Enterbay figures are very nice, but a little out of my range. Interestingly, I feel a lot of people will snatch him up...both collectors and fans alike. Nice post!

Hi Night Owl! I did not know that Jean-Claude was Belgian! Nice to learn that ;-)

The photo showing the action figure do a split made me wince. I could NEVER spread my legs like that. Ouch!

Hi Georgia Girl! I agree with you that the JCVD figure will get bought by a.f. enthusiasts AND fans - and Enterbay figures are out of my price range. (Were I working, I might squeeze in an occasional pricey doll, but not usually ... sigh.)

Glad you enjoyed the post. Thanks for saying so!

Hi D7ana, I checked some pictures of Enterbay figures and they are awesome....I'm so tempted by Che Guevara!, but they are too short for the tall girls around here. This figures are so detailed.....but as they are expensive and reviews of the actual product looks mixed I will wait and see, hope to read some comments from actual owners of these figures.
Thanks for sharing!

I have seen so many of his movies. My grandmother was a huge fan back in the day and watched hardly anyone other than Jean-Claude Van Damme and Steven Seagal- lol. The action figure is awesome and I see that it can do that Chinese split he's famous for.

Hi Billa's Dolls and Fashions, Marta, and Jewell!

@Billa's Dolls and Fashions - I forgot they did the Che Guevara. He looks great online. They also did "24" tv show characters. Roxanne has President Palmer.

My pleasure sharing.

@Marta - glad you like the figure. Will keep in touch for 2015.

@Jewell - amazing how that figure executes that split. I've seen some Van Damme movies, but I prefered Steven Seagal - the latter would be sooo serious and soooo bad-to-the-bones, he made me smile.

Not to be ageist, lol, but I clicked the link before I read the rest of your post and when I saw the doll I said, "That's supposed to be JCVD?! But he looks so old." Then I realized it's him now, not him in his prime. And AGAIN, not to be ageist, lol, but when someone says they are creating a doll of an action actor, I just expect it to be of that actor in their hayday. If you said, so and so's character from Expendables, then yeah, I expect it to look their current age.

Promotional pics matching the final product aside, it's very clear from the images released that you would be getting current JCVD, so why those YouTube guys were so disappointed, I dunno.

I've probably seen all his movies, but from that core group of guys, Van Damme, Segal, Schwarz - I'd rather have a prime figure of Dolph Lundren actually.

They got some cool-looking action figures on that Enterbay site. I saw alot of sports figures as well as the JCVD you were talking about. He's ok, but I prefer Steven Segal myself. LOL I didn't see him on there though. :-)

Hi Muff and Cindi Mortensen!

@Muff - yes, it does make sense that the action figure depict the person as he was in the movies that he is known for. I felt a little wistful because I'm older. Possibly JCVD wanted his current likeness used to stress that he's still active? If Enterbay had provided 2 heads - one current, the other young - that might have satisfied more people.

(I had to look up Dolph Lundren: I had blanked on his look, lol.)

There are several action figures of Arnold Schwarzenegger, Steven Seagal, and yes, Dolph Lundren ;-D

@Cindi Mortensen - yes, Enterbay does have some interesting figures. I don't think they did a Steven Seagal figure though. A company called N2 did create a Steven Seagal figure.

Based on the font on the box, I'd assume that they made an old/current-looking figure because it's supposed to look the way he did in the 2008 movie "JCVD". If you haven't seen it, it's a comedy (of a sort) where he's playing a slightly more washed-up version of himself. I thought it was pretty entertaining (although it's a funny choice for a tie-in figure!).

Hi jSarie and thanks for that information. That is an odd movie choice for an action figure. The movie sounds interesting though; I'll see if I can find it at the library.
