Seen the New Dr. Who Playscale Figures?

Creative professionals, Mark Andrews and Tony Leetham, have united to form a new British toy manufacture Big Chief Studios. BIG Chief Studios Ltd. is opening with a line of new Doctor Who figures starting with a 1:6 scale 11th Doctor Who. If Matt Smith is not your favorite Doctor, you might find the accessory packs interesting. Would you like a 1:6 scale Stetson hat or any of the other outfits and accessories worn by him? Then check back to the Big Chief Studios website for when those accessories are available. You can read about their process for capturing Matt Smith's look.

What will this Doctor Who cost? Only £134.99 (tax or shipping costs not included). That translates to $175.10 USD. at today's rate. If the likeness is as good as the photos, then this might be do-able for a fervid fan. (I am curious if they will have a nude doll options at a reduced price.)

For those curious about the Doctor's companion, here is a link to the pre-order for Amy Pond who will cost £149.99.

So .... has anyone succumbed yet? I'd love to see your photos ... big hint.

Thanks for the info! I didn't know about this toy company or the doll and accessory packs. Not on my budget right now but on my list for 2013!

You are welcome Ms. Leo! Thanks for stopping by ;-D

This is a new toy company to me, too. I hope to get the 2 Doctors and Amy. Wonder if Big Chief will also create a Martha Jones. Crossing my fingers for that!

Congratulations on starting your Wish List 2013.

I was always partial to Eccleston. The producers found him too "dark" but I found his replacement too "whimsy" Matt Smith is a good mixture.

I remember watching the orignal Dr. when I was a kid but I could never get into it even though I was quite the SciFi kid. I tried again when David Tennant starred but nope. Still not my cup of tea. I still want to see the large photos too, lol.

Hello! I actually did pre-order Eleven and he looks really great in person. I love all his fiddly little details. I plan to do a blog post about him in the near future as soon as my 18-month-old stops playing Godzilla every time I go to take pictures!!

Hi Male Doll World, Vanessa, DBC254, Muff, and Tabitha!

@Male Doll World and Vanessa - I LOVE to find new playscale figures and companies. The more, the merrier.

@DBC254 and Muff - I have enjoyed all three of the new Doctors - Eccleston as well as Tennant and Smith. My original Doctor was Tom Baker. I like the difference they bring to the Doctor character.

I haven't really "gotten into" any of the other Doctors though.

@Tabitha, I look forward to seeing your blog post about the 11th Doctor ;-D

For die-hard fans of the series, this figure rocks. (‘Die-hard fan’ being the operative term because the price is steep).

@Roville - LOL, yes, Robin, that price is steep. I am hoping that they might part out stuff eventually ... the way some companies sell parts of a set. Crossing my fingers for that ;-D

Really hate the new DW series if we are being honest, though I really would like to see some classic DW figures. An Earthshock Cyberman would be a nice addition to the 1/6 world as the two that you can get (the one from that awful Tom Baker episode and the new series one) are not as well-designed nor as menacing.

These figures are a bit pricey for what they are though. I hate the way the hobby has become so expensive. I miss the good old days when a £35-costing figure was considered expensive...

@Marvey - yes, I miss the reasonable prices, too. When CY Girls were $30 or so and you could get a nice figure with accessories for under $100 - even less if you just wanted the head or the nude body (with head, of course!).

The new DW with Matt Smith is okay by me. I slightly preferred David Tennant. I enjoyed Christopher Eccleston, too, although I remember preferred him in the British mystery series, "Cracker." And the one I consider my Doctor is Tom Baker. Sigh.

From the classic DW, I'd like a tall Tom Baker Doctor, Leila, and Sarah Jane. Playscale, of course ;-D
