J Lo Barbie, Anyone? Thanks Lubo and Ada

Ada of My Favorite Dolls wrote a blog post on March 22 and L'ubo recently posted this news on Facebook: Mattel is producing a J Lo Barbie. So Jennifer Lopez fans, check out Ada's post because she has a photo of the doll.

Thanks, Ada and L'ubo!

Like Ada says in her post, I'm pretty excited to see the fashions... but I have to admit, I didn't realize JLo was that big a deal anymore, I'm kinda surprised!

Hi Marta and Heather! Thanks for your comments.

@Heather ... I am not surprised that now that JLo is NOT as big a deal that Mattel is NOW creating a doll of her, lol. They created the Flavas dolls when hip hop was on the decline. (At least that is what the TRU stock person told me when I asked about the Flavas many years ago.) I think there is a delay between when people or themes are big and when Mattel responds - except when something is super viral like Twilight (shudder).

Then again, this could be Mattel's attempt to plug into the Hispanic/Latino market while using an established figure. Shrug. Guesses on my part.

Face of Jennifer Lopez doll reminds me a bit of Raquel facemold, just with a smile. Maybe Summer too.
It's pity that the doll doesn't really resemble the beauty of Jennifer.

Hi Jewel Snake! I could recognize that the doll was intended to be JLo, but the resemblance isn't the strongest ;-P

Shrug. I think it's the nose ...

The pix that Ada has was a prototype doll auctioned off at Charitybuzz.com. I actually hope the doll they mass produced looks a little better than that. There is going to be two of her. I think she is definitely relevant, since her big comeback last year with AI.

Will they give her an appropriately-sized butt? I certainly hope so.

I really like her. I may get her when she becomes available depending on the price....:-)

I'll believe it when I see it. I still want a big butt Kardashian doll.

Hi, D7ana! Looks like a lot of people want a fuller body for this Barbie and I agree with them. But I don't think it will happen. :(

It will be interesting to see what this doll is really like and how close her face is to JLo. Maybe Mattel release them later because they then don't have to pay such huge royalties for the rights.

Hi and thanks, Patti, Miss_Lola_77, Cindi, Muff, Ada, and Carrickters!

@Patti - ah, so the photo was from a prototype ... I hope as you and Carrickters do, that the actual doll produced looks a little more like the singer/actress/designer. Crossing my fingers for that.

@Miss_Lola_77 and Ada - oh, yes, a fuller figure would be a plus. I doubt that Mattel will provide a fuller, wider body. But that would be nice.

@Cindi - oh, yes, price depending!

@Muff - yes, a big butted Kardashian doll would provide welcome body diversity.

@Carrickters - that's a great point about Mattel possibly releasing the JLo dolls later to avoid paying huge royalties. Thanks for bringing that forth ;-)
