Asian DAFs Trying to Stay Cool

There is no "getting hot in here;" we are HOT in Philly. Ninety-two degrees unseemly, steaming, still air. I hate summer. De Cat hates summer. The DAFs hate summer. But a few more Asian dolls and action figures gathered to be photographed. Here they go.

Back row, left to right, standing Hasbro Dreams & Visions G.I. Joe foe Miss Fear, Jakks Pacific G.I.R.L. Force Kulture Shock Jaz, R&D Dolls Ibiza Heat Susie, and Mattel Generation Girl Mari Nakano.

Front row, left to right, kneeling Disney Mattel Captain Li Shang from Mulan and Dragon Mong Kok C.I.D. Wai Sir.

Hasbro Dreams & Visions Miss Fear, Disney Mattel Captain Li Shang, and Jakks Pacific G.I.R.L. Force Kulture Shock Jaz stand strong against the heat.  Miss Fear has borrowed YNU Group Mixis' Rosa's floral sundress; Li Shang borrowed some Ken shorts; Jaz has borrowed a Fashion Fever Teresa halter dress that resembles the iconic white dress Marilyn Monroe wore in The Seven Year Itch.

Standing, left to right: Mattel Generation Girl Mari Nakano, Dragon Mong Kok C.I.D. Wai Sir, and R&D Dolls Ibiza Heat Susie decided to take their outfits down a peg or two. Mari borrowed a top from MGA Entertainment's ANTM wardrobe and shorts of unknown origin; Wai Sir borrowed Ken shorts; Susie borrowed a white My Scene Barbie top and olive My Scene Barbie shorts.

P.S. Mari was removed from her box just for this occasion. Jorge of Clicking Dolls had asked about her.

I think the North has been hotter than Atlanta. We've had temps in the mid to high 80s.

That Jaks doll is beautiful. Well, they're all very nice, but she caughtmy eye immediately. Thanks again for sharing them.

Hello from Spain: summer also being excessively hot in my country. We are experiencing a heat wave. I like your collection of dolls. The dress of your girls are the Marilyn monroe type. Very fashion. Keep in touch

Hi Vanessa and Marta! You are both welcome to see my dolls; I never get tired of seeing yours. Turn about, fair play. Thanks for your comments.

@Vanessa - Weird, isn't it, this summer? I always thought the South would be warmer ;-P Guess it is our turn to get ugh-steamy.

I lucked out and got that Jaz doll from a New Jersey K B Toy store. I was visiting relatives, someone let me stop in a K B store, and there I found her. Marked down, too.

An interesting thought occurred to me about her. Jakks Pacific intended her to be an Asian character, but - looking at her with fresh eyes - I wonder if she could be an Ameriasian character, Blasian. That fancy occurred to me from your comment about her and Muff's comment about her G.I. Joe in her Best Thrift Store post. Hmmm ...

@Marta - oh, you have my sympathy about your heat wave. Ugh, ugh, ugh. Nasty hot humid time it is. Hope you get a break in your heat wave and soon.

That Marilyn Monroe halter sundress is one of my favorites. I am glad that you like it too. And my collection - I love them, too, although I have got to reduce their number.

I cant see the Asian in Susie - must be the hair throwing me off. Jaz totally looks Blasian to me.

Another beautiful assortment of dolls!

Hi Muff! Susie is bi-racial - Asian-Hispanic American. Some of the Susie dolls look more Asian than others. I love this one's full-bodied hair ;-D

Jaz does look Blasian. I didn't realize it until Vanessa wrote that Jaz stood out and you mentioned that G.I. Joe on your blog.

(Unlike Susie who's back story is that she's biracial, that Hasbro Joe is probably supposed to be Japanese American. His head mold was called "New Japanese" and he's not specifically described as overseas Asian. So I assume he's Japanese American. Then again, what do we say about people who ass-ume, lol? But among ourselves, we can make them whatever we want. And I'm liking my two figures as Blasian now. Thanks for the tip.)
