Organizing Update: Progress in the Front Room

Here are the tasks I set for the front room:

Open IKEA bags holding boxed DAFs - who stays? Who goes?

Open cardboard boxes with doll magazines - what stays? What goes?

Check DAFs against Excel spreadsheet

Refill IKEA Dimpa bags with Stay or Go labels

Open IKEA bags holding boxed DAFs - who stays? Who goes?

Most of these dolls were keepers, but I'm happy that I have one IKEA bag of stuff to go. Want a peek in this bag to see dolls and a playset that are going? Here they are:

Tops of boxed dolls and playset to be sold
Go stuff

Front of bag showing dolls to be sold
Go stuff front

IKEA Dimpa bag tag
What bag is she using? IKEA Dimpa

Open cardboard boxes with doll magazines - HOLD - not priority for now

Check DAFs against Excel spreadsheet

Do need to keep my spreadsheets updated. I have lapsed a little here. Why is this important? So I know what I have, what's no longer here.

Refill IKEA bags with Stay or Go labels

There's only one "Go" bag here now. The "Stay" bags don't need to be labelled so. I might assign complete dates with letters so that I can list where the dolls are. Like "2015-02-07A", "2015-02-07B", "2015-02-07C", etc. and then list the dolls in each numbered bag on a separate sheet.

Thanks for your encouragement and support.

P.S. I have no affiliation with IKEA. I mention the bag for identification only.

Good progress! The future owners of the "go" bag items will be thrilled, and the keepers have more breathing room.

Keep mentioning useful tools like IKEA bags, please. Even if it's not what I personally need for storage right this second, I like knowing what's out there for solving these problems.

Will you sell everything on eBay with the dollpage down? I'm trying to figure out what I will do.

Go Dana, go Dana, go Dana.... Way to go. We are with you 100%. I can't wait to see what's in the to go bag. Lol.

This is great! You have a great plan. I am putting some dolls on eBay today. My downsizing is not as organized as yours, but I am taking mental notes. I need to check out the IKEA bags.

Spreadsheets sound like a great idea actually.

Hi Smaller Places, Ms. Leo, Vanessa, Georgia Girl, Billa's dolls and fashions, Phyllis, and Anderson's All-Purpose!

@Smaller Places - I'm glad to share. Hope my suggestions inspire other ideas.

@Ms. Leo - I'm not sure how I'll be selling things. I'm not crazy about eBay. We'll work something else out ;-)

@Vanessa - yeah! Go Dana, go Dana ... oh, that's me, lol. Aww thanks!

Here I am thinking how I am killing the suspense by posting preview photos. Whew.

@Georgia Girl - I'd love to read any eBay tips you want to share if time permits, etc.

I like these IKEA bags - Dimpa. They're like $4.00 each.

@billa's dolls and fashions - thanks! I'm working a plan.

@Phyllis - Hope I help others in our situation ;-)

@Anderson's All-Purpose - I'd be lost without my spreadsheets. I like tweaking them AND they come in handy when I need to check dolly facts.

Great job D7ana! I noticed in your "go" bag that you have a High School Musical doll. Which one is it? If I don't already have it, would you consider letting me take it off your hands? :-)

Those IKEA bags are massive, so that's some serious progress in clearing out!

Dana, I do "Buy it Now" for all of my items. I offer free shipping if I am able to get a little more than I paid for the item in my buy it now price. I usually get what I price it for without having to relist.

Not to ask a silly question because I'm not all that Ikea knowledgeable, but did you buy those dolls at Ikea or you are just storing them in their shopping bag?

My doll show is on 2/21. If you want to book it down here you can sell your stuff at my table. I only purchased one table though, lol, so it will be tight.

Hi Cindi Mortensen, jSarie, Georgia Girl, and Muff!

@Cindi Mortensen - the High School Musical doll is the first Gabriella. Warning, she's the 11.5" one, not the 10" one. Sure, I'll set her aside for you if she's one you want.

@jSarie - ho, ho - yes and no. That's only one Going bag. But I'm working on it ;-)

@Georgia Girl - thanks for that tip. I haven't used eBay in years so I'm rusty.

@Muff - that's a reasonable question, but no, IKEA doesn't sell fashion dolls. (Although they have sold doll furniture.) I'm storing many dolls in their polypropylene bags because it keeps the dolls clean and portable.

Thanks for inviting me to your doll show. I would love to go, but I won't be able to travel that far anytime soon. (Um, I don't mean I have an ankle bracelet, lol. The cat is not that resourceful, ha ha.) It would have been fun ....

Hi D7ana,
I already have the 10 inch Gabriella, and the 11 1\2 inch one is a bit too tall, so I'll pass. Thank you though. :-)

Hi D7ana, I'm also in the midst of re-organizing and releasing stuff so your progress is inspirational. I sold a lot of dolls on eBay back in August and found the postage to be an incredible hassle. Now I just take everything to the Goodwill. Maybe it will end up in Muff's thrift store!

Good Job on organizing and the IKEA bags are great.

Hi Cindi Mortensen, Limbe Dolls, and Male Doll World!

@Cindi Mortensen - you're welcome. I'm looking at her clothes and thinking maybe I'll sell her nude. Hmmm ....

@Limbe Dolls - congrats on getting some sold. Whew. Postage and post offices are a blip lately.

Muff's thrift store is a cool place ;-)

@Male Doll World - thanks! These bags make carrying a load of dolls much easier than the plastic bins.

Dana, you are making great progress! Very organized, I think you will be very pleased when you're done, so you have room for new dolls. Great job so far! Night Owl

Dana, it all starts with one bag so you keep going. I find ebay a lot easier to deal with since I invested in a good postal scale and my measuring tape. I have no issue setting postage for my auctions. I have some loose dolls I'm going to list this weekend. I'm having a .99 and up sale :O)

You can do it, Dana! ᕙ(`▽´)ᕗ
