Happy St. Patrick’s Day

I missed seeing the St. Patrick’s Day Parade, but I want to acknowledge the holiday here. Irish Barbies are everywhere online so I decided to photograph any dolls and/or action figures wearing green. I found a Black Barbie, a copper-tressed Midge, a YNU Group Inc. Mixis Houda, an M & C Toy Centre Power Team Elite Para jumper, and a Spinmaster Bollywood Legends Kajol already dressed in green. Here they are along with my wish that all celebrating St. Patrick’s Day are having  or have had a jolly one.

Jakks Pacific G.I.R.L. Force Dolls Go Clothes Hunting

I thought: I have a LOT of doll clothes. Then I looked for fashions for the Jakks Pacific G.I.R.L. Force dolls. Fit problems galore arose. First, their hands are almost three times bigger than most Barbie hands. Their arms are a little rounder, too. Their waists, hips, and buttocks - bigger than Barbie - even the Belly Button Barbie bodies. Their legs are thicker. But their feet are slightly smaller and more graceful than the BigFoot Barbies. However fitting these dolls is made even more difficult by the rubbery material of their torso, hips, and legs. 

So most fashions barely fit. And the ones that did fit like action figure tailored shirts or Maxie's friend Ashley's sweatshirt did not flatter.

The girls were so disappointed with their findings that they insisted on being photographed in their original fashions. Well, Creanna and Bianca did. Here they go.

There is a dedicated eBay source for the Jakks Pacific G.I.R.L. Force dolls. That I like their faces and their attitudes makes me tolerate their posing limitations. I do intend to re-body at least the Lucy Liu doll. Someday.

The Jaz Difference: Jakks Pacific Fashion Doll Bodies

Goldie asked if I had new clothes sources for the Jakks Pacific G.I.R.L. Force dolls. I will go through my fashions this weekend to provide a fuller answer, but there is a possible "new" source for fashions to fit these toned figures: Kenya World clothes made for Fashion Madness Kenya and possibly Ariana. I write possibly for Ariana because I assume she has the same body as Kenya. My Jaz doll borrowed Kenya's powder blue terry tunic, and it fit Jaz fine. (I have to find the Kenya cotton skirt to confirm that that fits, too. We will see.)

I am sharing new photos of Jaz so that you can see how she differs from all of my other Jakks Pacific G.I.R.L. Force dolls. Most obvious, she is the ONLY one able to sit and to turn at her waist. Less obvious, her torso is made from a harder, smoother plastic, her elbows do not bend at all, and her click bend knees more closely resemble Barbie's than they do the other Jakks Pacific G.I.R.L. Force dolls. Also, she lacks the defined nipples of the other Jakks Pacific G.I.R.L. Force dolls, but she has a more pronounced "tooch."

Where are the Accessories?

Where are my doll and action figure accessories? Here, there, and all around. When I am "organized," I would like them in a few designated locations.

Sometimes, they are in the doll's box. This exquisite "gold" and "jade" jewelry necklace, bracelet, and earrings set are kept with the Integrity Toys Candi doll that they belong to. Some "rainy day," I will remove them from their plastic baggie and let her wear them.

Other times, they are in containers purchased with accessory-holding in mind.















Or in doll manufacturer's packages like this Mattel box that held an Audrey Hepburn fashion.




Or in this clever, plastic rather than styrofoam egg carton. Neat huh?




I like the view from the bottom. I may get another of these to store doll shoes and sneakers.




And another place where I keep accessories is with loose fashions. Like this Sterilite bin full of some of my male DAFs' fashions.

Let's see some of my Black Barbies. (I'll be posting about ALL Barbies throughout this month, but I have these photos I missed posting last month.) Mattel used a variety of face molds for them: Mackie, Carnival, Goddess, Drew/Ana, and Mbili. The following dolls are mostly boxed to-be-deboxed after I finish the reduction part of organizing. I recognize the face molds for all except the Black Pink Ribbon Barbie - her neck reads "1998" so that rules out the Kayla/Lea head mold.  Any Barbie fans *know* her face mold?

What About This Figure?

I feel conflicted reporting this news, but it is about a playscale figure and it falls in with the Black History theme. The character though is someone I find distasteful so part of me wants to ignore it. Sigh. Drums fingers. Sigh again. Okay, I'll share.

Storm Collectibles has created a 1:6 scale Mike Tyson figure. Alter-Ego Comics and BigBadToyStore have the figure available for pre-order. What is the pre-order cost? $239.99 at both sites. Gulp. Yes, I typed $239.99.

You may remember that Storm Collectibles produced a stunning Dennis Rodman. The Tyson figure looks as well-crafted as the Rodman one. Were I wealthier than I am now, I would consider these figures quasi-art pieces. I wave aside the cost though and ask, why him? Can people really forget what he did? 

I am amazed that anyone would create a figure of him, that anyone would want a figure of him. Then again, someone might just want a boxer-built action figure. Shrug. I don't get it. Anyone else flummoxed?
