Coming Soon: One Direction by Two Companies

Regular readers will remember that I mentioned Vivid Imaginations' One Direction dolls last year. Well, guess what? The boy band has become even more popular since then. They are now a force here in the United States. So much that Hasbro is bringing out their version of the British-Irish band. Sound exciting? Yes, it does - to me anyway.

Oh, but I have NOT gotten the Vivid Imaginations guys yet.

I wonder if the Hasbro versions will be play scale, have rooted hair, and/or be jointed? Boy I'd like to know. Snaps fingers. Why not ask?

"Dear Hasbro ..."

If their answer is "yes" to your questions, please ask them to also make some JLS dolls for the US. Thank you in advance. :)

I'll ask about them, too. I still haven't gotten any of the JLS guys from the UK. Sigh. Someday ....

I'm not sure about their hair but it's nice to see some different faces. I wonder what their plans are for Australian release or indeed, if they have any.

I love these face sculpts. I like all of these guys. I hope Hasbro's are at least this good or better.

Thanks, Roxanne, Carrickters, and Vanessa!

I have a male fashion doll, Paul from S Club 7 that Hasbro produced. Painted hair and no articulation. Okay, I can live with painted hair for guys, but I hope they update the body to have it articulated. But it's probably cheaper to leave the bodies fashion doll basic. Jointed at the shoulders and hips only. Sigh. Crumbs.

Thanks for the reminder about the JLS guys, Roxanne.

Carrickters, I am surprised that Vivid Imaginations did not release their 1D dolls to Australia. I thought Australia got some Sindys - but there I go, ass-uming ;-D

Vanessa, I love these face sculpts, too. (And the JLS faces, too.) Hasbro did a good job on the S Club 7 dolls so I think they'll do okay on the faces. They are more likely to have the male dolls at 12" also. I'll post a photo of Paul. Darn, can't believe I don't have one of him here already.

Hello from Spain: sure these dolls do not reach the stores in Spain. I'll be careful. Thanks for the info. Keep in touch

I purchased one of these blokes but the lack of articulation and poor quality clothing made for a pretty dismal purchase. It is nice to see different face-ups, however, albeit a bit teeny booperish. Did you rebody Paul?

Thanks for that feedback, Robin. I wondered about the quality of the dolls. I mean, yes, it is lovely to have nice new faces, but I am not surprised to hear that the clothes are cheesy. Sigh. All the more reason to have Hasbro do the JLS guys as well.

No, I haven't yet rebodied Paul. I might not. Kens have a more pressing need for new bodies - except the poser Kens. I've got a new post up about Paul's pose-ability last night ;-D

(It's just turned 12:01 so I wrote into the next day.)

I like their faces but I've never heard of them. Wouldn't stop me from buying one though! ^_^

Hi Marta, Muff, and EbonyNicole! Thanks for your comments. I "heard about" the British groups because a fellow collector tipped me off to their dolls. Paul, I saw in a store and bought. Knew nothing about his group or his music. Shrug. Didn't care. He was a 12" G-U-Y and a premium item in doll world because of that ;-D

I'm going to look out for The Wanted as well as a new girl group, Little Mix.
