T.J. Asks: Are They (Dating) or Aren't They?

T.J. wanted to spice this year's Valentine's Day entry with a quiz for PhillyCollector readers. By the photos shown below and the pairings, are these couples dating? Let her know your belief in the Comments section.

Remember how people believed Barbie really dated G.I. Joe. We've got some Barbies and a [G.I.]Joe stand-in here to test that belief. Behold how distinguished they all look?

Hasbro Lando Calrissian represents Hasbro G.I. Joe - while Go Red for Women AA Barbie and Pink Ribbon AA Barbie agreed to represent Barbie. Do you sense any Barbie-Joe love here?

Next up, we have a modern Ken and a Jakks Pacific Josie of Josie and the Pussycats. (What is good for the gander is good for the goose is Ken's take here.)

He's into hip hop; she's into country music. Sparks anyone?

We have Mattel's Scottie Pippin and Kenya.

Sizzling much?

Here goes Flavas Tre crossing the doll manufacturer's lines by stepping out with a Jakks Pacific Aqua from The Cheetah Girls.

This Valentine's Day post was inspired by a SuperCoolDollhouse post from 2012.

Whatever your dating status, have a Happy Valentine's Day! (Chocolates will be on sale tomorrow!)

Cute post D7ana! My girls are going crazy over your Scottie. Lol!

I definitely see sizzle between Scottie and Kenya, and some between Flavas and Jakks. The others, not so much! LOL Hope you had a great Valentine's Day! :-)

Hi Vickie and Cindi!

@Vicki - Kenya said that they are definitely NOT going to Georgia, lol. She's seen your smoking gorgeous ladies, and she's not taking a chance on Scottie.

@Cindi - you've got the couples right!

Valentine's Day was okay - nothing special - I did get some brownies, but alas, NO DARK CHOCOLATE. Sniff. LOL.

It actually looks like Billie Dee and Go Red used to be married but they got an amicable divorce and Pink Ribbon is their daughter.

Josie doesn't even like Ken like that. Sometimes he even works her nerves but they've known each other since they were kids so they are just used to hanging around one another.

Scottie and Kenya are knocking boots! They have nooners and like to play pirate and naughty serving wench. He travels a lot but with Kenya waiting at home he always rushes back.

Tre and Aqua appear to be the hot young couple to the rest of the world but underneath their lives are a lie. Tre is on the down low and Aqua want to make it big - no matter the cost.

At least that's what I see.

I'm just catching up on my blog reading - love your Valetine's pictures and Muff's reading of the couples is very apt. Sorry you didn't get any dark chocolate but hope you had a happy Valentine's Day anyway.

I’m seeing Joe put his hand on GoRed’s hip and it wasn’t followed by a smack down, so I wondered. But she didn’t sidle up to him either, and then he appears to be sneaking in a hug on both of them, but no response. So, no, there’s no romance there. Just a hopeful Joe.

No romantic body language between Ken and Josie. And hip-hop and country music... well, no, that does not work. No sparks there.

Scottie and Kenya... yeah, something heated is going on. He’s nakkid and she’s all over him but you’re going to need to password protect whatever follows. I’d like the link when it’s posted, please. heh heh heh...

Tre and Aqua... yes, some definite loving going on there.

Hi Muff, Carrickters, and Robin!

@Muff - LOL - Go Red is red with fury; she and Pink Ribbon are about the same age. Pink Ribbon is delighted though. Her smile seems to grow by the minute. Landro shuddered at the mention of marriage with either of these Barbies.

Josie and Ken have agreed to NEVER date again. See the follow-up post. You're right that neither of them is into the other romantically.

Yes, Scottie and Kenya are knocking boots!

Regarding Tre ... that just might be the case .... Aqua did want to be the model with him. She likes him enough to go out with him again. Friendship sparks a-going.

@Carrickters - yes, Muff's reading of the couples was good. My Valentine's Day was good enough. Brownies are better than NO chocolate ;-D

@Robin - lol, Scottie does look naked, doesn't he, lol. Actually, his trunks are painted on ... really. I don't know if I'll do a follow up on them yet ... thinking.

You nailed it with Ken and Josie.

Alas, Tre and Aqua ... like.

Poor Landro. Go for Red wanted to deck him, but not on camera.

I loved reading everyone's assessment of the relationships. I love Kenya and Scottie together. Scottie is from Kenner. Are they now part of Mattel?

D7ana said...

Hi Vanessa! I loved everyone's comments, too. My Scottie Pippin is by Mattel. I didn't know Kenner made one, too. (Wonder how closely he resembles the Mattel one?)

I'm late to the party... again... LERVE IT! and thanks for the bump :)

Thanks for the Scottie Pippen info. His body is so similar to the Kenner athlete bodies, chances are they used the same factory to get them made.

Hi and thanks Super Cool Doll House and Vanesa!

@Super Cool Doll House - aw, you know the party is complete when you're in the groove. Loved that Susie Dating Game story and thought it should be reread ;-D

@Vanessa - I thank you for letting me know that Kenner had the athletes out, too. I saw the Mattel ones when they went on sale. (Me not being a spots fan, lol.)

I have some Kenner and Hasbro dolls with similar if not the same bodies. Don't you just LOVE when manufacturers share bodies?!? Makes it so easy for collectors to attribute, lol.

Not complaining though.

@Vanessa - ack! hate it when I miss a letter. Did mean "Vanessa."

@Robin - just found a link to my FAVORITE Barbie/Joe photograph. It's by DollAhoy. Isn't it adorable?
